This sort of "missing features that you remember were there" are usually related to the mode the camera is in (the pasm dial). Some options are missing or greyed out in some of them, which I sometimes find annoying even if it makes sense.

The 100fps option is grayed out because DIS is enabled. If you disable DIS, you will find that you can select 100fps.  I'm guessing the processor can't handle having image stabilisation and processing 100 fps.

4 times ("x0.25") 30 frames is 120 frames, and you could have just record in this setting to experience what it does (the Aristotelean way), I do agree they could have been much clearer with this one. Samsung manuals in general are good reads.

Hi,

I own a NX1 for some months now, and I'm struggling with slow motion settings. When I've selected 1080 (25p), the "0.25x" option (for getting 100fps) is shaded, so not available. I'm pretty sure, that I've used it succesfully, right after I've bought the camera and was playing around.

But now the setting somehow is not available anymore? I've read the manual, but there seems to be no restriction for the 100fps except for the resolution (which I've set to 1080 25p, as I said) and the mode not being "Auto", as someone told above. I can only chose "0.5x", resulting in 50fps.

Do I miss something else? Or could it have changed with a recent firmware update?

Thank you for your hints,
greetings, Harry

*edit* attached a screen, where the disabled 100fps option could be seen.

Make sure your 'DIS anti shake' is off.

As someone already stated, make sure you turn off DIS and it will be selectable again.

Also if I were you I would change the video mode to NTSC instead of PAL, that way the option will be 120fps not 100fps thatyou have.

Re: 120 FPS on NX1 Video?

Hi all,
sorry for answering so late (christmas, vacation, ...)

Thank you so much for your hint with the OIS setting to 'OFF'. Unfortunately, the setting doesn't influence the ability of the camera to record with 100fps. The x0,25 option is greyed as well as the 25p 100fps option, regardless of the OIS setting.

I tried it yesterday, in different modes (A, S, P) and also with three different lenses:

18-200mm F3.5-6.3
45mm f1.8 2D/3D
16-50mm f3.5-5.6 ED OIS PZ

No chance to get it to work. As I said, I did use it already some time ago, I'm absolutely sure. Another note: Firmware version 1.40.

Maybe another setting, which I changed accidentially?

Thank you,
greetings, Harry

I don't own the camera but I'm pretty sure they were referring to DIS (digital as in software meaning in camera body) not OIS (optical) on the lens. See below:

Hi siditm,

oh, I really got this point wrong, thank you for clarifying my misunderstanding between OIS (lens) and DIS. I'm going to give it a try after works, thank you so much.

Re: 120 FPS on NX1 Video?

I'm so glad I found this thread!

I recently bought a used NX1 and was going through the settings and first I found that my SD card was too slow for 4K, which was easily fixed with a new memory card. But then I was baffled to see the 100fps/120fps still greyed out and just couldn't figure it out!

Now after reading this and finding out that the DIS was the culprit, I checked the manual once more and finally found, in the section explaining the use of DIS, they state in a grey box that while DIS is in use, "you can't use the following settings...". I actually read manuals for things but this time I didn't read far enough it seems.

Thanks again for the advice!

This has stumped many people, including myself! Would have been nice if there was a prompt in the menu so we'd know why a certain feature wasn't working, but thanks to the internet, most of these types of issues can be resolved.

Happy shooting!
