Which lens is good in Focus speed?

ef-s 55-250mm f/4-5.6 is ii vs ef 50mm f/1.4 usm

There is a event coming up on this saturday for children. Which is not sports but some activities such as musical chair. It is an out door event so light won't be a problem. I will be shooting with my T2i. I want to reduce out of focus shots when kids perform activities. I can get near to them so focal legnth is not a issue. Solely on focus performance which lens do you recomend? If focus speed are same I would like to go with prime..

?

It looks like you already own these two lenses.  Seems you should be telling us if one AFs faster or more accurately than the other.

Re: or bump

I used 50mm for portraits only (Specially less light situations) .. No experience in sports and outdoors...

70-300L

Fastest and most accurate focusing lens I have ever used.

But isn't it pretty easy to just test them side by side? They are two pretty different lenses.. I would probably be choosing one based on something other than focus speed personally. Focal length and max aperture is going to be a much bigger difference between these two than focus speed.
