Not Just For Outdoors!

I'm primarily a graphic designer who's had to upgrade his photo equipment (and skills) considerably because that's where client demand has pushed me. Not that I'm complaining -- I invested in an Olympus E-M1 just as M4/3 was taking off (more luck than wisdom, but it was a great choice), and I'd been using primarily the 12-40mm PRO lens to capture operational and training images in restaurants.

While the 12-40mm PRO let me get wide enough and gave me incredible sharpness, I just couldn't get "into" the tighter shots without getting right up on top of the subjects. Enter the 40-150mm PRO, and now I'm taking foodie-quality images with beautiful bokeh and surgical depth-of-field isolation (fully open at f2.8). And because I'm starting at 40mm I can get get enough distance from the subject to avoid distortion, or I can get up to a foot and a half away at 150mm for actual macro work.

It does travel pretty well for some street shooting and is more ergonomic hand-held (even with the tripod collar attached) than you'd think, but I'm just volunteering this as an example of how I appreciate this as a fantastic "work" lens. The tripod collar is well designed and balances the rig right at the sweet spot, keeping jiggle to a minimum. It requires a bigger bag and that giant sliding lens hood can be a bear to negotiate in and out of dividers, but it's really a sweet piece of glass.
