EX2F and samsung external sef220a flash works just fine together.
1

Picked up a used ex2f and tried it with two sef220a flash that I have and it works on both. In an old thread, someone on this forum mentioned it will not work but it does work.

This camera with a F1.4 can practically see in the dark without using a flash. What I like about the ex2f:
1. Lens F1.4 is sharp
2. magnesium body (the used one I bought came with corner damage on the body but camera appears to be working fine. So far so good. Another camera would probably not have survive that type of damage.)
3. Art filter (love it, please add more of these)
4. Fully articulating screen. (very useful)
5. Dual IS (only allowed to use the dual option in P mode. And single option on the other mode. why? why does samsung have to gimp this.)
6. Wifi + NFC (able to transfer pic and movies to my samsung s5 anytime and it is quite fast)
7. ND filter
8. Movie mode is really good and with the IS, it looks great.
9. Play button works without using the power button 1st. Also with the sef220a blocking the power button, I just press the play button then the shutter button to turn on the camera.

Conclusion:

Samsung should just keep the same F1.4 lens, stick their older sensor+processor from the nx1000 in it(I have it and it is still able to produce great images), tweak the menus a little, rework some of the button layouts (like add some customizable buttons), and borrow the screen from the nx3000 (add touchscreen to it), and call this a EX3F and it would be sell like hotcakes at $500.

I have to try this on my EX1 (TL-500).

And these great cameras also shoot RAW.

That lens won't cover a larger sensor. I do agree though that a camera similar in format to the EXes, but with a larger sensor would be very much appreciated.

I now use RAW most of the time with my EX1. Ill-health prevents me going very far, but I mange to get out locally, and get enough shots to put in a local photo challenge.

The EX1 is small and light enough to carry around without tiring me too much. I'd like a bigger sensor camera, but the EX1 keeps me happy for now.

Have you considered the NX300 and its APS-C sensor? It is small, light and shoots great with the kit 18-55 III lens.

There is a thread on now with it selling for $349 today only.

No fully articulating screen which rules it (and many other contenders) out. If you look at my Flickr photostream, you will see that I use the articulating screen a lot to try and achieve 'something different'.

I fully understand your reasoning. The lack of a fully articulating LCD has kept me from the NX1.

I use mine almost all of the time, use the NX30, and get shots I could not possibly get using the tilt LCD of my NX300.

Waiting for the NX50 or rumored NX1-LX.

I don't understand why Samsung have an excellent fully articulating screen on the EX cameras, and then put inferior tilting screens on cameras higher up their range.

The NX30/50 is tempting but I do prefer the styling of the EXes. Something like the Sony A6000, with the NX sensor and an articulating screen will get my cheque book out of the drawer. In fact, I bet that there would be a queue!

I agree. If they just updated the ex2f with a 20MP sensor and cpu, a lot of the current NX cameras would look inferior.

How is the charging time on SEF220A? Is it faster than Metz 44 AF-1?

I never really notice the charge time. I would say it is as fast as the in-camera flash or the same.  I have a fuji ef x20 flash and it feels like i have to wait an eternity in between shots while the sef220a, i just fire away like it is an in-camera flash.

That's impressive. I guess the batteries are the culprit here. I used the Panasonic Alkaline AA batteries, the same I use on my SB900/910 without any problem. But I guess Metz really needs Eneloops, so have ordered couple of Panasonic eneloop pro AA / R06 2500mAh …so hopefully that will solve the problem now ;.)
