Looking back...S series camera's...
1

Just recently bought a S110 refurbished for $130.00.

I was an avid lover of this series ....funny that I never owned the better line, since the S90 was introduced.

Looking through some old shots , thought I'd share a few here.

S70

Started back in 2002 with the brick shaped S30. (still have it, and it still works)

S30 with B&W 92 IR filter

Later bought the S50 and in 2004  bought the S70.

S50

S70

Many years later bought a used S80.

S50

3 images shot with stitch assist then  merged

After so many zoo images, it's refreshing to see this side of your photographic vision, all so very well done. And as they are all taken with different cameras, they once again show that the camera is just one piece of the final result.

Thanks for the look back.

Cool thread! I'm just the opposite of you in that I've owned all of the S-series from the S90 on except for the S120, but few of the older models. I did have an S50 and an S80. I really liked the S80 a lot, even though I know it wasn't as popular with a lot of people because of its plastic parts and lack of RAW. I always thought it had a really cool form factor though, and the pics from it were great. These old cameras can still put out some impressive images; thanks for sharing these!

Re: Looking back...S series camera's...

Thanks for the walk down memory lane.  Nice images, too.

I never got past the S95, I'm stuck there.

In the past I had the S50, S70, S80 and S90.  I got some great images with the S70.  The S80 took very similar looking images; but I did not like the location of the Mode knob - it was too easy to turn accidentally, so I went back to the S70.

I also have the SD950IS which was sort of a halfway S series with the sensor and processor from the G9.  It came out during the long gap between the S80 and the S90.

How do you compare the images from the S90 and S110?

Thanks Andy.

The S80 was also one of my favorite...but by the time I bought one (used) all other current camera's had O.I.S.  So it didn't get as much use, as if i bought it, when released.

S400 was a classic and was my go to pocket cam for a good couple of years.

I never owned the S90. Just the older S series, last one was S80.

S110 is new to me, and will get to use it more, next couple of weeks.

From few indoor shots I took , at higher ISO's. I like what I see.

Surely better than my other pocket camera, the ZS30.

Yes, I remember that one. Either 1.6 or 1.8" LCD?

Very good IQ for it's day.
