More SP100EE samples

Took these this evening in the back yard - mostly trying out the filters and art effects.  All are straight out of camera JPEGs, no post processing.  Cheers.

Re: More SP100EE samples

Very creative. Would love to see some images shot at 100 ISO at various focal lengths in good light. I played with this model in a camera shop and was impressed with it's EVF, build quality, and good ergonomics. Many thanks.

Re: More SP100EE samples

Hi Sactojim - as it turns out, I returned the SP100EE yesterday.  I had an intermittent Zoom Error when switching high speed modes.  I'm not sure if it was just a glitch or if there was an inherent error or design flaw so back it went.  I didn't want to take a chance and end up with a problem down the line.

I ended up with one of the Refurbished Canon SX50HS (they are $199 at the Canon website).

I think the ergonomics of the dot sight and overall use are much better on the SP100EE than almost any camera I have tried in quite some time.  Just drop dead simple to use and I felt I connected with it.  Unfortunately, I found in a few head to head shots that the SX50 just had better IQ (especially at the longer zoom ranges).  The SP100 got a bit squishy, where the SX50 stayed sharp.  The SP100EE was better as an artsy camera, and I will miss the Art Effects modes for sure.  I may look to the Olympus refurb site down the line at another SP100 as just a backup camera or for artistic purposes.

My plan is to pick up the Olympus Dot Sight which is pending release and to add that to the SX50 as a stop gap -- as the usability at long ranges is great with the dot sight on the SP100.  It seems as though the SP100 MAY have been discontinued (looking at Olympusamerica.com and also B&H Photo).  Perhaps sales weren't up to par with it.  I'm hopeful that the next generation adds RAW or a sharper mode, as again - it had the best haptics and user experience of anything I've tried in a while.

Good luck!
