Why so little about the sp-100ee here?

I am an E-M1 user and already have excellent, fast lenses (12-40 f/2.8, 20mm f/1.7, f/3.5 fisheye, 50mm adapted f/1,8 Nikon) with only one all rounder with some reach (Pana 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6) that is not very fast. A recent illness pretty much robbed me of the savings I had for longer lenses but not of G.A.S. So I need a stop-gap.

Yesterday I got an email from Oly Canada offering refurbished sp-100ee at the equivalent of US190$. So I came here hoping to read about its user's experience but the discussions about it are almost none. Why? Is it such a bad camera?

Thanks for your time.

I presume few actually own it.

I have played about with it in a shop.  I liked it but don't need another camera.

It is not unusual for models of any manufacturer or range not getting a mention here. Over the years I also got the impression that the majority of camera buyers never look at DPReview.

As to the SP-100EE - I just typed it into the search box on YouTube. There are a number of reviews, like this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXsD_D2D1_s

I do like the red dot sight on the SP-100EE. But I actually only need it about five times a year. For most of the stuff that I do, a travel zoom is more useful for me (SH-1).

This said, here we don't get any complaints about the SP-100EE either. Compare this to the constant bleating about the XZ-1, XZ-2 and Stylus 1. I would say that at US$ 190.- you can't go wrong with the SP-100EE.

As long as your expectations are reasonable, you'll have a blast with it.  I LOVE the dot sight on the SP100.  I've been trying out one of the new Nikon P900 cameras as well.  Not sure which I will keep - I find the P900 is fantastic for moon images (the 83X optical zoom is crazy good).  I find the SP100 to be easier to use, the dot sight is a winner, and it is a lot smaller (yet still 50x zoom).  It's been a challenge to get good bird shots with the new Nikon, but I suspect that is mostly operator error.  At $200 the SP100 is a very good deal.  As long as you aren't expecting DSLR performance or don't do too much pixel peeping, you should find the SP100 just fine.

Have fun!

Thanks for the info.

I still don't know when the camera will be delivered since I ordered it last Friday, which means that it won't be processed until Monday, at best and because they may have to import it from the USA.

I guess that I'll have time to re-read the manual.
