Better option for what?, also it depends on what is important to you, do you like more zoom or wider angle lens, accurate colors, good macro ability, thinnest camera for ease of carrying etc

Re: Which is a better option ? Canon S120, G16 or Sony RX100

Brian raises some good questions...if image quality is the most important, then the RX100 hands down. I've never used the RX100 so I can't really comment knowledgeably about it; I've only played with one at BestBuy. If you want a high quality camera with excellent IQ that will fit comfortably in your pocket, then the S120 is the way to go (although that price seems a bit high considering what a lot of them go for on eBay). If you want an excellent all-around camera with excellent IQ that has a fast lens at both the wide and tele ends of the lens, then the G16 would be the choice. I have both the G16 and the G7X, which is Canon's version of the RX100, and the IQ from the G7X is simply superb and outdoes the still excellent IQ from my G16. At the same time, the IQ from the G16 at lower ISOs is excellent, especially RAW images, and the G16 has slightly faster AF and is easier to handle for my large hands. At the time I purchased my G16, I chose it over the S120 and RX100/RX100II, primarily because of the fast f/1.8-2.8 lens and the fact that it feels good in the hand. It's also a very solid performer and a joy to use.

Out of the three above which one of them is best for daily use?

Price and portability is an important criteria.

Between the Canon S120 and G16, I cannot decide whether to go for a touchscreen/compact camera(s120) or the fast lens on G12.

If price and portability are priority, then the S120 is the only choice here.

If price is your 1st priority, may want to consider a Canon Refurb S110 @ $179.99.

S120 does have some improvements/enhancements over the S110, but from what I've seen the S120 for twice the price it's IQ is not twice as good as the S110 IQ.

Only you can decide if the S120's improvements over the S110 are worth the $200 +/- to you.

Re: Which is a better option ? Canon S120, G16 or Sony RX100

The S120 at that price ponit, it is way overpriced, but good camera, good IQ en the smallist of the group, but if You can go for S110 like Jon said simular IQ, not as fast AF but 200 USD less.

The RX100 has by far the best IQ of the 3, for colors  (I always liked canon colors more, but if you tweaked a little bit the colors of RX100 it is not bad and let's say it is a persononel taste). The menu's of RX100 is also not that initiative, for me it is harder to find something in the menu's of with a canon . It is not as small as S120 by a little bit but the S120 is much easier to hold, the RX100 has a slippery finish and I need with my RX100 a grip, also personal (cheapest one , the sony grip is 15 USD more) and there is no external charger included (I don't like USB-charging) so sony external charge + 45 USD (there are cheaper one's on the internet to). Last point, don't forget the image stabilisation of RX100 is a joke compared to the canon's. But I like mine RX00,just for the IQ.

The G16 is a solid camera, not as small as the other 2, but much easier to handle. I always liked the G-series, good IQ. Also the F1.8 to 2.8 is a big plus, brighter of the othet 2. The G series is a joy to use.

If having a 24mm wide angle lens is important to you like it is for me, then you must compare the canon models to the RX100 III, because the others only have 28mm lenses.  This then puts the rx100 III into a much higher price bracket and out of the question.

G15 refurb from Canon. Great ergonomics, build quality, and IQ.

Pound for pound, the depth of features, ergonomics, physical controls, UI, and customization that the G16 offers all combine to make this little gem the most complete all around shooter for novices and pros alike. I sold my Nikon P7700 and switched to the G16.

Re: Which is a better option ? Canon S120, G16 or Sony RX100

You might want to take a close look at the Canon G7X which is close to Sony RX100 II. I have one and I really like it. Or you could wait for the Canon G3X which will have a 24mm - 600mm lens. It wouldn't be as small as the Canon G7X which is about the size of the Sony RX100 II . However, there is no word when the Canon G3X will be available. It is said that it will have a 1" sensor, maybe the same sensor as the Canon G7X.

Yes, the G7 X has tested better than the other 3 but at what cost? $700, in one place. $450, the cheapest price I could find.

I wholeheartedly agree that the G7 X is a better option than those listed, but it comes at a very hefty price. As mentioned the S110 refurb is available for $129.99 from Canon with a one year warranty. I think the S110 is a very nice camera with excellent IQ and at that price, just $30 more than they're selling the 330 HS, it's quite a bargain! Plus, with tax on the G7 X, it's about $600 cheaper! Definitely worth considering.

I have the Sony RX100 and the Canon G7x. Price wise the Sony RX100 is probably the best deal. Both cameras are similar. And the Canon G7x probably has the Sony 1" sensor.
