Lucas;  I'm really hoping the same re color.  When I hit the "Buy it Now" button only the black one showed, but looking at the product description later, it showed other colors.  I agree though, no pimping this lens except in black;>)  Can you imagine what yellow would look like?  I'll return mine if it's not black!

Yep. Learned something new today:

http://smile.amazon.com/Lens-Band-Stop-Creep-Black/dp/B0050KEEW0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1425594421&sr=8-2&keywords=LENSband+Lens+Band

Exactly what I was hoping for - a simple, elegant and (reasonably) inexpensive solution.

Thanks!

I hope it works, I also had a few from various charities that use them locally, and i used it to keep my tripod legs in tight to when in storage.  Simple and no where near as expensive as a lenscoat type solution.

Well, I ordered one of those lens bands (AMZ)-- a little spendy + $5.06 shp and handling, but I'll have a go at it. And if it works well I'll report back. Or maybe the OP will.

John

I will indeed. My Amazon version (even more spendy; but WTH, after dropping ~$1300 on the lens, I ain't gonna sweat it) should be here Saturday. Probably could have scrounged around for a "Livestrong" (I hear they're available cheap) or some such, but I'm lazy - and don't want my fancy lens to be mistaken for a cheater (sorry, sorry; I promise no more proselytizing, or holding forth).

As an aside - or maybe the main point - what a great group this is! Open minded - and hearted - discussion and sharing! Thanks everyone!

Received the "LENSband" (from Amazon) and am pleased to report it seems perfect.  Nice, tight fit, completely covers the studs, without being intrusive.  Haven't had a chance to field test it yet, but based on handling the lens around the office, I expect it will perform just fine.

Here's a quickie shot of the lens, with the LENSband installed (sorry I wasn't more careful about getting it on straight.  Was in a hurry.  But you get the point.)

WNeueTC;  couldn't find this thread so I started another, but it might be of interest to others.  Though I suppose most 40-150 PRO users are wedded to the tripod collar.

As my new thread shows, I got one of the Lens Bands and think it's very useful, so thanks.

For the price I am going to try the suggestion on Amazon of using a rubber wrist band, just got this for a dollar http://www.ebay.com/itm/311249240682, will report back when it arrives

I am constantly amazed at the things people come up with to complain about, good luck to you with your quest to solve this significant design flaw. I think I shall go take some photos.

I don't really see it as much of a complaint, but rather an observation of a minor issue that is easily solved.  In my case it hasn't cut into shooting time at all, but the Band has made this lens more comfortable to shoot with handheld.  It's not a big deal.

Well, maybe a bit of a complaint, or rather a helpful suggestion. Helpful being the key word here.

It would appear however I may have ruffled the feathers of a bit of a troll here.

Here's an example of Manti44's helpful advice to a previous poster about suggestions for buying new gear:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3803727#forum-post-55353331

And then there's his/her suggestion to use a Dremel to remove a stuck filter on an Olympus 12-40 Pro lens:

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3798919#forum-post-55292182

Yep, helpful is as helpful does.

Seems a good time to resurrect this thread as the article on the new 300mm Pro lens states it comes with exactly the sort of ring discussed here. Perhaps Olympus will release one for the 40-150 now?

Not sure what exactly you mean by "Perhaps Olympus will release one...".  One what?

Though I'm not interested in the 300 mm Pro lens, I would like to read the article... links always welcome!

Olympus has been marketing the DR-66 (decorative ring) for the 40-150 for some time now.

Many thanks!  I ordered mine and am looking forward to receiving it.  Will be a more reliable - and appropriate - solution than the rubber band I've been using.

I didn't know this existed either, thanks! Just ordered one from B&H.

I bought one from a Japanese seller on ebay last January, after having no luck finding one available in Europe, but it took forever to get delivered to me in Sweden.
