NX100 with 18-55 worth a $100 USA?

Hi had a nx100 a few years ago sold it. Pickup a few fuji's along the way. Thinking of getting back into samsung . Now have a chance to pick up a nx100 with the 18-55mm lens like new for under a $100 us . I'm thinking the lens to be worth more than a $100. Then later on upgrading to maybe a nx500 when it comes out and using that lens. Do you think it is worth getting ?

Anyone still using their nx100?

I don't but I used it extensively. When I browse through my pictures, I consistently like NX100 output. Very good rendering, very nice blue and reds. Camera itself is very solid and nicely design, with good controls. I udes it mostly with 20 and 30mm pancakes.

I use the NX100 (and NX10, basically the same with EVF and flash) and find it great for most things. Sure autofocus is slow compared to the new fancy models, and dynamic range is less and high ISO worse but it's still great. My flickr and 500px are pretty much all taken with one of those models.

But not sure it's worth it for the 18-55. If you want to get the NX500 that will probably come bundled with the new power zoom which is highly rated. The NX500 might not even be sold as body only. Also, there's been a few versions of the 18-55 so you'd want to check which it is to make sure you get the best model (I don't actually have the 18-55 so can't comment which is best).

If I was you I'd see if there are any really cheap NX1000s going. That's the next sensor generation so quite an upgrade. Here on UK eBay there are some NX1000s for less than £125 second hand, although I know that is quite a bit more than you stated for the NX100 you're looking at, it's still a good deal.

I would probably agree with Monkeybrain.

I still have an NX100 and it produced great quality output with the 30mm F2 and 16mm F2.4, but high ISO was quite poor.

The NX1000/NX1100 cameras have a sensor that hasn't much changed compared to the NX3000 that I now have and the NX1100 I have still gets a fair bit of use as a reserve.

I only paid about £105 in the UK for the NX1100 as an unused item from a shop on Ebay (without the lens). If you can find one of them I think you would get a much better deal than the NX100, but it depends on what you expect to use it for - if it's landscapes/portraits in good lighting conditions the NX100 is a fine camera.

Mainly landscapes flowers still life type of things. Like I said I had a nx100 a couple of years ago with the 20 – 50 .and sold it. Look back at some old photos I liked the results from it . Thinking of getting back into Samsung again. Saw this and thought maybe buy it for the lens . Then upgrade to one of the other body’s nx300 or ? . if it was worth the money. . I think the lens is one of the first. No 'I-F' button only ' I-S' and 'M-A'

I think that 100$ is a decent price for the 18-55 lens alone...

If you can find an nx1000-nx1100 for the same price you should consdider, but:

1) nx1000 has a better sensor, and some new feature

2) nx1000 comes with the 20-50, that is more compact and sharper (and lesser range)  but has no ois. If you dont mind about the size i think that the 18-55 is a better option (i have both 18-55 and 20-50 and the first one spent most of time on the body because of the ois)

I will buy the nx100 and a second body (nx1000,nx1100,nx3000 are around very chap)  later, when you have another 50$ spare

I agree. And, don't know why, ooc jpg are better from nx100 than from any other nx camera that came later.

Just wanted to say thank you all for you help. I decided that I’m not going to buy the nx100 . And wait to see what the nx500 is all about.
