Re: How many still use G12

I have one in good working order. Small scratch on the lens but I can’t find it affecting image quality. Maybe at f11 or above.

My girls use it now. Easy to handle, solid camera. Mine traveled via bike, mountain bike and hike on many many adventures and is still ticking.

  1. Just dusted off my G12.   Enjoy the feel and took a few jpeg pictures for enlarging and framing.

The G12 is one of my favorites....a classic gem...

I usually avoid old threads that have been resurrected but this one brings back good memories of Russ.

He's probably looking down with a smile on his face knowing people are still responding to his threads.

His advice, taken

About me:

I am 90 years old and have enjoyed every minute. Plan to keep on doing so. My wife and I have fished and climbed hills and mountains in many states, did all that raising 6 children and they all still do the same things in middle age. Took pictures of fantastic places in this country, too. My advice to anyone seeking it, is to stay active, stay interested and stay amazed. "

Finally someone older than me! That is great advice. The name Russ stirred a few memories. I seem to recall a Phil Rivers and Tom Horn but I may be slightly off. Good guys even if I mixed up their names. Recently hearing photoperzon had passed away bummed me out. I will say this about aging: I have seen petty fights over the years on the DPR and have read some after cancer treatments. Come home from that and it all seems so minor. Cameras are not something to get that worked up over. An attack on your family deserves a response but camera comments should not cause battles. cgarrard's advice is perfect. I love "..stay active, stay interested..".

My G line...G10, G11 and I have given both to family. Good cameras. Lots of fun shooting. I STILL have my G15 but rarely shoot with it. It is like new. I once posted concert shots I took with that small camera and they weren't bad.

Here is one. I have since moved on to the RX100 Sony line as my small concert camera because I think the bigger sensor helps in low light/no flash situations.  I am still happy with what the small sensor on the G15 gave me. Most venues don't allow larger cameras:

Well, as much as I hated to do it, I finally sold my G12

The G12 was one of my most favorite cameras, but my camera collection approached some 40 units and I had to make way, so I sold off a bunch of gear.  Heck, my G12 only had around 800 shutter actuations was virtually mint.  But it does me no good to have a bunch of cameras I love, but are not being used.  So I reluctantly let it go - sold for $275.

I now have reamining some 1" sensor models - mainly the Panasonic FZ1000 and the Samsung NX Mini, along with some Fuji 2/3" X series models - the X20 and X30.  The rest are either Fuji X cameras (APS-C models), Canon EOS M, Samsung NX, and Micro Four Thirds.

Keeping track of all your chargers must be a total nightmare?
