The IS is standing for Image Stabilisation, they all have this even though it is not in the name.

HS stands for high sensitivity, I did think apart from anything else, that all HS models use the 1/2.3 BSI-CMOS sensor and the non HS use a 1/2.3 CCD or CMOS sensor, but when I look up the specs for the two models you mention this theory is not the case, assuming the tecnical specs on this site are correct.

So maybe there is more to this that someone else can explain.

Re: Canon Poweshot ELPH HS and IS

Trying to find information  on the Canon power shot sx 660 hs  . I want to compare to the  canon sx 280 hs and the canon the canon power shot  sx 600hs. and differences?

I am not camera savey. I want something good, and easy. My eyes are failing  me.  I want to be able to capture my dogs chasing each other(still shot) and in movie mode. I have  a very old  Canon  power shot A 540.

Any advice ideas  very welcome. I wanted to be able to use AA batteries however  people told me no camera  still using ass batteries would give me an upgrade to my old camera. True. Any other ideas. Oh and my hands  shake a lot.

Thank you very much.  yinna
