Which prime lens for landscape ?

Hello everyone

I own a NX30 with the kit 18-55mm.

I'm an amateur, I know the basic of photography and I'm used to shoot with a 45mm f1.8

I'm starting to be a bit bored with portrait etc and i don't like the kit lens ( I'm living in ireland and I need a bright lens as most of my shoot are low light).

What should I buy ?

16mm , 20mm from sansung ?

Or is there an other wide lens from an other brand (samyang etc..) that could be great for my use ?

For the moment my choice would go for a 16mm f2.4 but I don't know the quality of this lens

Thank you for your advice. Price is something important too, I can't afford a "professional" lens ( less than 300€ would be perfect )

Thank you for your help

I bought white NX 10mm fisheye: almost 100 EUR less than black.

Averything is fine, nothing different, just the colour.

16mm for 170 - that sounds good but I am not sure if you will need that lense for landscape if you already have 16-55 mm kit. Usually you will not need F2.4 for that.

I am using 12-24 mm wide angle zoom. 12mm vs. 16mm - it really makes a difference. I had also 16mm but sold it.

Being an amatuer, you should not lock yourself into one focal length.

With your NX30, along with the included LR, you can handle many low light situations without the need for 1.8 or f2 glass.

Additionally, landscape pics are not often shot with a wide aperture.

For these reasons I suggest you explore the NX 16-50 Power Zoom lens which handles landscapes very well and will still enable you to shoot both family pics at home and also with a bit of reach.

An alternative option, buy 30mm and stitch 2,3 or 4 photos together. I prefer the background to be more visible in the final image, super wide's push it too far away. Also you end up with a high resolution image if you want to print big.

I would agree, 30mm is perfect for stitching and is a very sharp lens.

Re: Which prime lens for landscape ?

Really the Zoom lens I can't.. not bright enough, I'm doing a lot of picture in low light without tripod then defo not for me and I found the kit lens so slow to focus...

30mm not wide enough, i prefer to crop than stitching for the moment

I had a canon 550D before with a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 which was heavy but allow me to do a lot of things

then my choice, 16mm samsung or there is maybe an other brand ? or 20mm is better ?

I'm thinking about the 10mm fisheye.. never tried then could be fun...

I have the 10mm fisheye and it has become one of my favorites.

But, you seem to be moving the target from your original post above.

Perhaps you need further contemplation of your photographic needs.

Once you know what you want/need you will already have half of the answer you are looking for.

Re: Which prime lens for landscape ?

Well my need is simple, just would like to know if there is a better lens than the 16mm f2.4 for landscape available for NX mount

I don't really see the point of the 20mm f.28, the 30mm seems to close from my 45mm and I would like a prime lens... then I don't have a lot of choice apparently

NX 16mm and Samyang 12mm are my favorites for landscapes. Here are some amateurish samples in these two DPR galleries. When you shoot wide landscapes it can be helpful to have foreground interest sometimes.

16mm gallery  and 12mm samyang gallery

Don't completely reject the stitching; some of my most detailed landscapes have come from stitching 45mm shots.

I also have an NX 20mm gallery in dpr, if that interests you.
