X-Pro1 for Street Photography?

I have a chance of buying an X-Pro1 body in mint condition for $650. I would like to pair it with a nice prime for street shooting. Is this camera still worth it?

It is, but for street shooting you can get the X-E1 for even less.  Same IQ but smaller and more stealth on the streets.  The 23mm f1.4 would be a great matching street prime.

It comes down to wether or not you prefer an optical viewfinder. If not, go with one of the newer less expensive bodies. If you want the OVF, the XP1 is a great camera for street.

Is it worth $650? It depends on who you're buying from. You can pick a used one off of KEH for about that price and they offer a 6 month warranty on their used gear with a return policy. So if you can buy from reputable used camera dealer that will warranty your camera, then yes. If it's a private party, I'd say $500 should be the upper limit.

You might also take a look at the X-E2 with the 27mm pancake lens.

Re: X-Pro1 for Street Photography?

The primary advantage with the XP1 is that the optical view finder lets you see more than what is in the frame, which makes on-the-fly composition really nice.  Couple it with the 35mm 1.4 and you have a sweet setup that is small.  AF is a little slow compared to the X-E2.

So yeah, it can be a great street camera.

Why get the small body, only to put a big lens on it? As a packqge, the X-Pro/35 is around the same size and price as the X-E1/23.

Take a thought about the X-A1, same quality image. can shoot from the hip, the most discreet. by far the cheapest and when paired with 35mm 1.4 an excellant small combo. Have fun.

I picked up the X-Pro 1 in the first week it launched with all the available lenses 18, 35 & 60.

In the first weeks before the first firmware update I wanted to throw it against the wall but most of the bugs and clunkiness soon disappeared and now many updates later I think it should be a great dedicated street cam!

Here's a sample from both lenses -

I love the X-Pro1, don't care much about the OVF (which often turns into a pro), the construction is amazing (nothing to compare with the X-E1), it just seems that 650 is too expensive, I paid less for mine brand new.

By the way, either 23 or 35 depending on your taste, I like the 35 cos it equals 50 on FF which is one of my fav focal lengths and gives me creative opportunities for portraiture which I love and with a couple steps back also allows for some street.

Re: X-Pro1 for Street Photography?

I posted an AKC Dog Show thread which is with the X-Pro & XF55-200 zoom. The XF35 is really nice on it and to be honest, despite it being a little larger it does not feel any less portable than my old X-E1..

X-Pro1 Street Photography

X-Pro works for street photography. It works for portraits. it works for landscape. It works for architecture. Except for things that move vary fast, it works.

As Giovanni_1968 suggested, the price may be a little high. I purchased one from a reputable camera store for much less. I also bought the 35 for my street photography. Nice combonation.

Also have an X100S. That is a nice street shooter. As others suggested, XE-1, and XE-2 works too. There are more ways than one way to shoot street with Fuji.

Have fun with whatever Fuji you select. The way you feel is the way you know you are doing it right.  Please share some of your images after you make your decision. That will be the evidence of your work.

X-E1+ 27f2,8 was just 599€ yesterday... brand new

I was qoing to buy the lens and a spare battery for my X-T1  - and noticed that i got the new X-E1 body for almost nothing... bundled with this lens

This combo is quite good for street photography - and the pancake lens makes this almost pocketable. With a black body the tiny lens does not look very visible...

Thank you all for your advice. I went ahead and bought an XP1 in like new condition for $560 and the 18-55 for $300. In that, I would like to use this kit it for street as well as a general travel setup, I thought that this was a good way to go. I would like to eventually get a small prime to use for just street if needed.

I think the X-Pro1 is/ will be/ a classic and keep some value over time. Much more so than the XE1/ XE2/ X-A1/ X-M1.

Brand new X-Pro1 with XF-18mm available in Finland from reputable dealer for 849 euros. Still worth buying for that price?
