Olympus 40-150 f2.8 vs. Olympus 35-100 f2, worth the switch to m4/3?

For those of you who have the Olympus 35-100 f2.0 and made the switch to the 40-150 f2.8, have you liked it?  Do you feel there is a decrease in image quality?

My 35-100 f2.0 has been a workhorse making plenty of profitable images, but the temptation to lighten my load is there.

Sounds like you are a pro (smile)... What you may not pick up immediately is that you'll need to run the E-M1, not the E-M5, IMHO, to get the most out of any FT lenses you might want to keep.

Re: Olympus 40-150 f2.8 vs. Olympus 35-100 f2, worth the switch to m4/3?

I have done just that. I sold my E5 for an E-M1 just over a year ago but kept the 35-100 until recently. I bought the new 40-150mm last month and have not shot extensively with it yet but I do love the feel and handling of it - you can hold the camera and the lens with one hand - so its a LOT more manageable.

Do I like it as much? Its probably as sharp, but I am not sure if it has quite the same magic qualities as the big Zuiko. But then what does? It was one of the best zooms ever made. I could not afford to have both plus I wanted my outfit to be a bit more portable so I would actually take it out more. The extra reach and light weight is a real bonus. The lack of a stop has not bothered me yet, but I have not shot any indoor performances yet.

Last summer I did get a few nice shots with the 35-100mm on my E-M1 which you can see on my Flickr pages, but here are a couple of shots from a show I was working on this weekend taken with the E-M1 and 40-150mm combo, both at 150mm.

take the ZD 35-100 on the EM-1
that lens is outperforming the new 2.8/40-150, esp in lower light conditions.
the new lens is very nice, but the elder 2.0/35-100 is still top when used on the EM-1..
just my thinking: don't sell the 2.0, get the 40+150 anyway, ist's relatively cheap to the 35-100 and then u have the choice
that's my choice I did..

Thanks.  I will probably just have to do that and figure out which one collects the most dust.

Yeah, I have the E-M1.  I should have put in the title "switch to m4/3 lens."  Just want to know if it is wise trading the 35-100 f2 in for the 40-150 f2.8.
