Lightweight, cheap, full-of-functions but end-of-life camera for enthusiast photographer

After 3 month of use, at 220€ this camera is definitely a very decent quality/price product. Full of functions, a complete manual option, quality pictures up to ISO 12800 with excellent precision, good optics : no blur in the corner of the pictures and a fast autofocus mode for-those-who-like. Shutter speed from 1/4000 up to 30 seconds, lots of scene modes,

Cons : not enough buttons to switch from a custom mode with hdr 16:9 to another custom priority aperture 3:2 (for instance), the display is not good enough to shoot pictures with manual focus, camera not compatible with linux (have to remove the micro SD), additional lenses are very expensives, it's still not possible to upload pictures to a share by wifi.

All the cons are insignificant to the price of the camera (around 250€/250$).

Thanks for taking the time to do a review on the NX2000. this useful information for newcomers.

It may be semantics, but you used the word cheap but that cuts 2 ways. There is no doubt the price is inexpensive but the construction of the camera is far from "cheap"

Some of your comments raised some questions. the reference to the screen not having enough resolution to manually focus. There is a setting in the menu to provide a zooming of 5 times when manually focusing and it is very accurate and useful.

the issue about enough buttons seemed to indicate you wanted to create specific groups of user functions. The camera does have 3 user programable modes.

the reference that you could remove photos by wifi is mysterious as there are variety of ways to do that, most simple being email, which is universal as it gets.

One difficulty is the camera is such a bargain that it makes it seem the lenses are expensive. But the reality is many of NX lens are very well priced for their quality when compared to others.

A great camera at a great price!  Who could ask for more

As with many things in life a great photograph has strong appeal for what is NOT in the picture.

I'm very surprised at this.

I have an Ubuntu 12.04 Laptop and tried both my NX1100 and NX3000 with a USB connection.

Both were seen without difficulty as additional disks and I can move files between the two.

As I don't have an NX2000 I can't be absolutely certain as to why you can't make a connection, and of course the Samsung "Windows" iLauncher software won't be compatible, but to say the camera is not compatible seems unlikely.

Probably referring to wireless transfer, it's quite handy but slower than either USB or card removal.

It's the same with me. I don't have any problems connecting and mounting my NX2000 with my Linux (Gentoo) box.

I mostly use my NX2000 with one of the three pancakes and it's a nice little camera. In my opinion, the display is a good one. With focus peaking and magnifier activated, even manual lenses are usable, but for this I prefer the NX30 with a full articulated screen and EVF.

Samsung lenses expensive? I take it you haven't owned any other interchangeable lens cameras. Samsung's lenses are very reasonably priced, especially considering many of them are optically great.

you're right!

Some of your comments raised some questions. the reference to the screen not having enough resolution to manually focus. There is a setting in the menu to provide a zooming of 5 times when manually focusing and it is very accurate and useful.

Thanks for the tip! Function is now active (I use the x8 instead of x5)

the issue about enough buttons seemed to indicate you wanted to create specific groups of user functions. The camera does have 3 user programable modes.

I know but it is mandatory to use the touchscreen to switch between modes. It's probably not a problem when shooting in studio but in real life... I suggest you to have a look on the NX3000 buttons. It's unusual to see so few buttons!

the reference that you could remove photos by wifi is mysterious as there are variety of ways to do that, most simple being email, which is universal as it gets.

I prefere that way : beeing home, connected to my wifi network (for instance with the unexpected wifi button), download pictures wirless trough samba/cifs/nfs/idunno share.

One difficulty is the camera is such a bargain that it makes it seem the lenses are expensive. But the reality is many of NX lens are very well priced for their quality when compared to others.

You're right, after a quick overview, I'll look for the "12mm NCS CS" (rokinon or samyang).

A great camera at a great price! Who could ask for more

More buttons !

I hope you are OK, don't know how to take your end-of-life camera comment.  I have not compared functions but the nx300 suits me well, glad the 2000 is so nearly perfect for you!
