Olympus zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 hands on review

I have just bought this lens and thought I would share my experiences for any others contemplating such an investment.

I already own several primes for my EM-1 including the fabulous 75mm and didn't enter into the world of zoom lenses too lightly. However i've always owned long lenses (for architecture - you get an entirely different perspective, for sport, and for travelling). The lens is extremely compact, I haven't removed the tripod collar yet but imagine I will when I take it travelling, the size is simply one of the best things about this lens.

The size and weight distribution are great, holding onto the tripod foot and camera it feels well balanced. Controls on the lens are really smooth as you would expect. The retractable lens hood is very clever shortening the lens whilst stored. I have now used it for a weekend and am very very pleased with the results. I may have difficulty taking this off my camera. I have not carried out any rigorous scientific tests and will leave that for others, I measure my kit based on the photographs it allows me to take and the results I get. This is very close to the quality of my 75mm though much more versatile in what it will allow me to do, I do recommend this lens.

Here are some examples on my Zuiko 40-150mm f2.8 flckr page https://www.flickr.com/photos/phils--photos/sets/72157649939230910

Thank you Phil! Would you like to comment a little bit on what kind of post processing went into these?

Hi TimoK

Happy to share, my post processing is in Lightroom 5.6 with the occasional use of DXO viewpoint 2 as im a sucker symmetry.

In lightroom I am indebted to Erik or archeogeolab and use a recipe of his, here's a link to the thread.
