Re: Watch the serious softness on the right!

He mentioned that he was holding it infront of the lens because he yet had no step down ring. The blurriness comes from misalignement (most of it I guess).

Found another forum where they tried out several adapters:

I just bought the 14mm 2.5, had been thinking about it for a long while. How many of you out there have and enjoy that lens. Tell me about you experiences with it and how well you like, also what type of photography you use it for.

It's small, 28mm is a focal length I like to use, it takes 46mm filters like most other m43 primes below 45mm, and as far as I'm concerned that's where the positives end.

Here in France, it's quite expensive (more than €300) for what it is. On the EM1 focus isn't particularly fast and I've had consistency issues (doesn't focus in the same spot all the time, unlike other lenses I've used, but similar to the Pana 25mm on my EM1), it's very sharp... in the very very centre, but the sharpness quickly degrades when moving towards the corners and closing the aperture doesn't help much. Let's say that the softness is easily noticed on an A3 print. Chromatic aberrations are high, and of the sort that isn't that well corrected. And it's worse with flare than all the other m43 lenses I've had.

But it's small, and it's a 28.

Have it, but in general I end up using the 12-35/2.8.

The size difference isn't big enough to matter (the 12-35/2.8 is the size of a Canon 18-55 kit lens), and having both zoom and IS wins out for me.

I got the lens cheap so I'm just holding on to it for now.

The lens itself is perfectly fine otherwise.

The 14 2.5 is a natural fit for the GM1/5 and that is where I usually use it.  It is quite sharp and very lightweight and that makes for a nice every day carry.

To the OP:  You've already bought the lens and you are only now seeking justification of your purchase????      I've owned one and used it for three years on an Oly EPL-1.  Just go out and take pictures.

Good advice! To give you some additional encouragement in the face of the barrage of negative comments in recent posts:

I don't know how small the 12-32 zoom is, but I will say that the 14 is about the size of two silver dollars taped together (a bit of hyperbole) and it goes right into your pocket (try it); my sample is pretty decent in the corners (there may be sample variation I read in an earlier thread); I think the focusing is quick; maybe there is some focus error but not if you set up the camera at centre point. I agree that it flairs and that can lead to some disappointing results.
