Getting Great Results

This lens had developed a less than perfect reputation, according to the reviews that I had read over time.  Most of the focus search issues have been improved via firmware and the long focus throw is a bit odd to get used to but it does allow finer focus and with the recent AF + MF feature added via firmware updates, I find this a welcome attribute for the macro duties that the lens was designed for.

I believe this is actually my sharpest lens (and I've got a couple of Zeiss Touits, too).  Is there lens to lens variations and I got an especially sharp one?  Perhaps, but I'm very, very pleased with mine.

Re: Getting Great Results

I would like a macro lens for my X-E2, but this, of course, isn't one. A true macro lens is capable of at least 1:1 reproduction and I quote: a macro lens is classically a lens capable of reproduction ratios of at least 1:1. I'm waiting for Fuji to produce one.

You may have a typical 60mm. I compared mine to my Nikon D 600 with a Zeiss macro planar.

At 100% I can see a slight edge in favor of the big one. At 50% the images are equal in apparent resolution (Acutance) I think 50%  is roughly what a 20 x 30 inch print would look like.

I will sell mine next year when the new 120mm macro is available. I need

1:1 for shooting tiny wildflowers.

Would the fuji macro extension tubes work, they cost about $100

Re: Getting Great Results

Im sure they would, but having used tubes 50 years ago I know what a  PIA they are to

fool with while hiking around shooting wildflowers.
