Absolutely no criticism on your image, but high acutance foregrounds such as ripples on glassy smooth water would look sharp with most lenses.

Very, very good? Yes! Incredible? No, if you consider its price tag and the fact that the picture was shot at F8. For example my Zeiss 35/2 is at least as sharp by F/5.6... and it costs nearly half.

Difficult to judge based on picture that doesn't have much details across the frame.

Yes, but it's 35mm and f2 not 24mm and f1.4.

I was actually marvelling at this very photo in your thread about Switzerland in the other forum. I then see you post it here and have to agree, the 24 is an amazing lens and one of my favourites.

Great photo!

Great photo!

The 24mm is my second favourite lens, love it.

Yes, but it's 35mm and f2 not 24mm and f1.4.

Correct. What I meant is that I actually would expect such a performance from a modern 2000$ pro-grade wide angle prime stopped down to F8 at base ISO on an incredibly nice and clear summer day on a high resolution body. Conditions are all optimal so I expect great performance. And the lens delivers, indeed.

post-processing?

An awesome lens, indeed! And even at f=1.4 extremely great fun (wished I could afford it, only had the chance to play around with it once in Heidelberg).
BUT: could you please also give us information about your post-processing of the picture?
I assume you took the photo in NEF, probably 14bit, but after that? Postprocessing in which software? What kind of adjustments did you apply?
Thanks in advance

Well, you are comparing your Zeiss 35 to Nikon's 24 so here we have different focal lengths. And for the record... if you compare any of the Zeiss 35's to the Zeiss 25 - they're all cheaper in price compared to the Zeiss 25 f1.4.

My point? 24 mm lenses are traditionally higher priced than 35's, thus your price argument is not applicable here.

Oh, I could say my Sigma 35 f1.4 is just as sharp at 5.6 as well - but again, we're not talking about the 35, we're talking about the 24.

The tinge of 14-24’s painterly look nicely retained here. It’s capture nx2 I guess.

Very nice shots. Seems that some modern Nikon lenses are not easily 'replaceable' items.

- rare conditions; type of the clouds & the lighting is very attractive.

For about $2000 USD, it's expected to be a nice lens, and It's in fact a very nice lens, until I started shooting Milkywaqy and starry night sky with it, I was annoyed by the high coma I got from this other wise nice fast lens, so I no longer have it, I found the cheap Samyang 24 1.4 works better for Milkyway shooting and Zeiss 21 works better for everything else when 1.4 is not required like most landscape stuffs.

Yep always shoot RAW 14bit. NX2 for WB, exposure adjustments and conversion. PS for all the other stuff like dust cleaning, cloning, colour and contrast adjustments. Always work on image with zero sharpening which is done at the very end.

Re: post-processing?

thx so far.

clarity adjusted? vibrance?
I just want to know / make sure it's really the lens which makes the difference, and not a better post-processing which I am not aware of / able to ...

thx
