Beach in winter - EF16-35L f4
3

Just a few shots taken in one of my favourite locations (SW Portugal). Some B&W, some long exposures (with Lee Big Stopper), and lots of cold and wind.

Regards.

Very nice. Any grads used? Soft or hard? The reason I ask is I am just starting out with the Lee system, and technique always interesting.

I hired a 16-35 f4 L and loved it. Fabulously sharp. It will be my next purchase after the 24-70 2.8 mk2. Damn these lenses are expensive! Reckon I'll get more general use with the 24-70 though. In the meantime ill struggle on with the 24-105L. It's not a bad workhorse, but it does distort at wider angles, and the edge sharpness isn't anything to write home about.

Nice captures.

Jon

Thanks. I used the Big Stopper in #s 1 and 3 (80 sec and 300 sec exposures, respectively). This filter is very interesting to provide this sort of "look". But it can get repetitive after a while, so it is imperative to still compose the shots in an effective manner. The "effect" provided by the filter should be an addition to the photo, not the main attraction.

I also have other two Lee grads, both 2 stops, one hard and one soft. To my use, two stops is plenty to tone down the sky, any extra I can recover in LR from Raw. I use the hard grad in these seascapes, as the horizon is linear and clear cut. The soft grad I use for other situations.

The what it provides, the 16-35 L f4 is actually cheap!

i have been using canon 17-40 f4.0 for landscape for may years now and i have been extremely happy with it. however, if there is one lens that i'd like to have at this time, it eould be the new 16-35 f4.0IS. it seems like a stellar lens and lots of fun to use.

cheerz.

Biza.

Wonderful images indeed.

I too am considering upgrading my 17-40 F/4 L to the new 16-35 f/4 L IS. Sharper corners and IS, what's not to love

I may just hold onto the 17-40 as the resale prices are not great and it is always nice to have a back up on hand.
