Very pleased with the camera!
Having been impressed with the quality of the images from the Samsung Galaxy S3, but wanting a larger screen for my aging eyes, I decided to get the Note 4. The inclusion of the S Pen wasn't a deciding factor, but I have learned to love it for jotting down quick notes, rather than poking them in with my finger.
I very much appreciate the much improved brightness of the screen and most of the time turn it way down, so battery life is probably twice or more what I was getting from the S3. I love the fact that I can read the screen outside, something I couldn't do in bright light with the S3. The quick charger is AMAZING, offering 50% power in a half hour. As with any other new phone it's important to turn off unneeded features that drain the battery and hints for doing so abound in YouTube videos.
I LOVE the camera and no longer have blue flash pictures - a big problem with the S3. Of several shooting modes offered, Food" adds a slider to adjust the white balance and offers you the option of 16:9, 4:3 and 1:1 aspects. Video is incredible. Stabilization is a default. (You don't have to turn it on and off via a menu as with the S3. ) Check out this one on Vimeo from my grandson's Ultimate Champions Tae Kwon Do School. As is the case with EVERY digital camera I've owned, I frequently use minus exposure compensation to avoid highlight burnouts, but often the HDR mode suffices to get a good dynamic range. "Animated Photo" mode is just plain fun.
Have to admit I rarely need the phone, but improved sound would be appreciated, especially when watching videos.
Google maps worked great when we were traveling in a mountainous area and surprisingly continued to perform when we had no data signal on one trip.
Men will have to think about where they're going to carry the Note 4. My son has one and can't comfortably put it in his pants' pocket. I keep it in a separate zipped compartment in my purse, with a Verizon applied screen protector on it. I ALWAYS have Verizon apply my screen protectors - saves the aggravation of bubbles or dirt beneath them when I do the application.
Thank you, Samsung, for a fun tool.
