My Go To on the 7D
1

I have owned this lens for quite a few years, and it is ALWAYS on the camera. It has traveled everywhere with me and never lets me down. Great color, contrast and sharp detail. I can't imagine going without it....it is the standard by which other lenses are judged (24-70 II on FF).

Correction

The 17-55mm on canon APS is equal to 27.7-88mm full frame.

Of course it is, when did I ever state otherwise?

Yeah. I sold mine earlier this year along with most of my crop lenses, to concentrate on FF lenses, but it was always excellent.

Really the only criticisms might be 1) the older "only" 2-stop IS, 2) build quality might not be as good as some others (LensRentals has said it breaks more than others), and 3) bokeh could be better.  It's also debateably overpriced compared to its Sigma rival.

If I were to buy another crop zoom today ... I dunno. I might look more towards the 15-85, but only because I have other fast lenses and the 60D is now my "other" body, where I could take to riskier places (like third world countries) than I might take my 5D3.

If it's a *Single* Lens Reflex, why do I need so many lenses?

Re: My Go To on the 7D

My fiance has the 15-85 mm and I really like it, but the bright f2.8 of the 17-55 is a real plus. I agree with all of your other comments.
