1200D Battery Grip?

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a Battery Grip for 1200D/Kiss X70/T5. I checked the internet and there are some Battery Grips (none Canon Manufacturer) being sold. I'm not sure with them since no comments were posted. So if somebody here was able to buy and tried using it for a long time, can you recommend it to me? Thanks!

Regards!

Mark J

As the market of 1200D owners who also want a grip is small, you may be forced onto the road less traveled.  I would review the comments you can find on the particular models you're looking at and then simply buy what you can afford.  It might work out great.

A quick check with the 1200D manual (pages 276 & 277) indicates that Canon do not manufacture a battery grip for the 1200D meaning that the only grips available are manufactured by third parties. This means that there will be no provision for additional controls on the battery grip and any sort of shutter button will have to be connected to the the camera with an external cable. The same is also true of the 100D/SL1.

there is a good NEEWER battery grip for canon 1200d that has a shutter button on the battery grip and comes with a cord so you can take photos with the shutter button on the grip, it also can fit 2 batters, and has a tripod mount on the grip.

Hello Mark,

As a general rule I never recommend buying generic battery grips. I strongly suggest looking for an OEM. You can find great deals on eBay. For the best experience look for sellers with a 99.7% reputation and above.

I would have never expected that Canon didn't manufacture a battery grip for the 1100D or 1200D. Thanks for the heads up.
