NX100 and FD lens

I know questions have been asked on this before.

I have an nx100 (my first apsc camera) and I recently purchased a Komine 135 2.8 for a great price.

I have a fotodiox adapter to mount the fd lens. However I can mount it perfectly, focus and everything, but when I go to take a shot the screen says no lens.

For a few minutes I managed to get it to say attached, but it kept flickering to no lens. Now it's just kaput.

Any advice? It would be so annoying to have to return the darn adapter and order a new one. Other people seemed to have used the fotodiox no problem.

Re: NX100 and FD lens

Are you using it in manual or aperture priority modes? Those are the only two modes that support fully manual lenses.

P.S.: I've come across this blog a while ago too; might be of relevance in your case.

Re: NX100 and FD lens

The flickering of no lens would imply that the lend present pin inside the mount is not being fully depressed. You can thicken the adapter a little on the portion that contacts the pin with some scotch tape or some other simple mechanical fix. It's just due to a bit too much tolerance in the adapter manufacturing and a somewhat weighty lens (I'll sometimes get it with a 75-300 4-5.6, but not at all with a 28-135 3.5-5.6, that's on my EF to NX adapter, my FD to NX one is flawless, even with a 70-200 2.8-3.5 attached). Not sure what's up with it kicking the bucket though.

Re: NX100 and FD lens

Thanks for the reply, you guys are awesome.

So what it did turn out to be was the adapter does not fully depress the little button inside that tells you there is lens. Emailed them but all they offered was to send another one which wouldn't help.

What I'll eventually do is look into a way to thicken up the adapter ring, or maybe permanently push in the lens button...

As it is now, I found at that in the developer options on the NX100 you can select 'fire no lens'. This makes the camera shoot the shutter even without a lens on!

The only downside here is that you can't use focus assist...so focussing is a bit trickier

Looks like I'm getting the hang of it! Love this old glass.
