Need advise on my seemingly dead NX30

Yesterday I took my NX30 out on a small walk around town with my wife and child. It was a pretty foggy weather at first and started raining slightly after a while so I decided to put the camera away. Sometime later we where caught by some heavy rain, but the camera was safely tucked away underneath the baby pram.
Anyway I got home and left the camera in the hallway to acclimatise, without battery. Late in the evening I brought it up and left it in the living room for another day, but when I tried powering it on today it was a total dud. Dead. Diseased.

Can anyone give me advise on this? Did I actually mistreat it so badly to deserve the camera dying on me? For now I'm leaving it for another night and plan trying to get it fixed under warranty if it still doesnt work, but I hoped perhaps someone here can come up with a solution...

Edit:
Note, the camera wasnt seemingly wet at all, it only had very slight drops on it when I put it away

Never had an NX30, but I have brought more than one P&S back with a couple of days in dry rice.  Would be my first course of action.

Yes, see below.

Did I actually mistreat it so badly to deserve the camera dying on me?

"Mistreat....badly....deserve"? -

Should read:  "Mistreat....badly....that I likely caused.."

It takes only one drop in the right place.

I would never put my camera away with any water on it.

I also extend my zooms to dry out as well.

on it when I put it away

I have a nx30. new. I left it 2.5 weeks in my camera bag... and when I when to turn it on. Nothing happens.. No power on. No sounds.. just a dud. Had to send it in to samsung repair. They also requested the samsung battery which I sent afterwards and they says it turned on immediately without a problem. So they send it back to me. I am still wondering should I keep mine. could it die again like that anytime?.. i really want to like it but that experience always keeps me wondering.. My used nx1000 is working awesome though.

When storing your camera for a period of time, take the battery out. I learned this the hard way.

Thanks for the advice, I'll take the grave dangers of fog more seriously next time. I rather hoped for advice on what to do with the camera now though, perhaps there's still some measure of hope for survival?

At the store they told me they could send it in and try to get it fixed under warranty since it shouldn't go dead on me in a bit of fog. I guess that would be the best way to go then for now.

If they fix it I'll be sure to give their tech support a honorable recommendation here (hinthint to any Samsung techies who might be reading this ;-).

Re: Need advise on my seemingly dead NX30

Samsung never made any claims to the NX30 being weatther-proof. Unlike Sony with the A7R, which failed under the similar conditions (and I'm sure this guy knew well enough to dry the camera off before putting it away):

Living in Oregon, I've got my NX30 wet a few times. Never had a problem. I always dry it off before putting back into the bag.

Can you elaborate on it?

Does leaving the battery inside the camera for long periods without use damage the camera?

The NX30 can easily be turned on as one inserts it into a camera bag.

Mine was unknowingly on, and when I pulled it out to use it it was ' red hot ' to use an expression.

The problem is the design and location if the on/off switch.

With the camera hanging from my neck I have unknowingly turned off/ on the carmera by reaching for something in front of me.

Removing the battery solves one problem.

Either way, I love my NX30.

I concur, I too have accidentaly turned my NX30 on, when it should have been off, only to find a discharged battery when I tried to use it later. My 30 did not overheat though. But I didn't have mine in a bag, perhaps that was the difference.

Re: Need advise on my seemingly dead NX30

My NX30 died in exactly the same way- except there was no water involved, nor was it stored unused. I went out one day for shooting, it worked fine. Next day- nothing. It wouldn't turn on. I kept trying it every once in awhile over the next couple of weeks, hoping. I have the service manual for the camera, but I didn't really want to take it apart, so I finally decided it was time to upgrade. A week after I got my new camera (NX1), I tried it again, and it powered up with no problem! The SD card was corrupted, however, and couldn't be saved. I got to thinking; that particular card may have had problems from the beginning- it came from a questionable source and may have been a fake... which led me to consider the possibility that that's what may have caused the problem in the first place. It's just a guess, though. The camera has been working fine ever since, no problems at all. I find it interesting that others have experienced essentially the same thing.

pm me your e-mail, I bought the NX30 service manual at some point as I had one with a dead lcd. Might help you to open and revive it.

Try putting it in an airtight ziplock bag and leave it in the freezer overnight. I got mine back to life using this method.
