Is anyone using the OM10 with the mk11 version of the 14-140 please? If so, is the lens OK with the small size of the camera, e.g. without the grip, or does it get 'front heavy' due to the size of the lens against the small camera body?

Thanks for any opinions.

Linda

I have the 14-140 with my g 5 a little bulkiy not bad though . Beware of lens abberations especially in bright sun nd should help,Ii am using it mostly all the time, sharp lens better than kit ,not to good for inside museums. I do a lot of landscapes, its nice to have the extra reach sometimes . I have primes i use but i like the reach of the 14-40 pus its affordable when you shoot for a hobby.

I dont have the EM10 but i do own the 14- 40 ll, and use it on my G6, bear in mind the G6 does have a much bigger grip than the EM10 so i woul recommend getting the add on grip for the olympus. You could have a look at the four thirds.org website and use the matching simulation to get an idea of its size on your camera. Personally i think it is quite bulky BUT it is very flexible and i like the images i've had from it. but i am really interested in the new 35-100 f5.6 panasonic as my all round family day out lens.

I've reported this in a few other threads. I have 2 EM10s and an EM1. I like the specs, quality construction, and handling of the Pana 14-140 mk II but with all three of these cameras I experienced serious shutter shock when using the 14-140 MK II. I had IBIS turned on and lens OIS turned off-- and zero second shutter shock set. I sold the first copy and bought a second as I really wanted to like this lens, but the same thing happened-- shutter shock-- and I didn't even believe in shutter shock until this 14-140 II experience.

In the important 1/30 to 1/250 SS range, I'd say at least 50% of shots were distinctly blurry and unacceptable. So I sold the 2nd copy also and bought the Tamron 14-150 which I have found very much to my liking and it works very well on my OMD bodies. I also have the Olympus 14-150 which I consider optically about equal to the Tamron, and that is "quite good" for this class of lens. I would recommend either the Oly or Tamron for the EM10, but not the Panasonic 14-140 mk II.

2-3 years ago I had the MK I Pana 14-140 on a GH1 and had no such problems, but that is a bigger, heavier, and much different lens and of course on a Panasonic body.

Good Luck.

Can it be the moving AF/OIS lens vibrating when using mechanical shutter?

Can it be related to OIS jittering in video shooting?

Did you shoot video with EM10 and Pana 14-140 v2? Which was better, OIS or IBIS in video?

I use that lens on Pany GM1 Technically I am holding the lens with attached camera as lens is bulky Have this set very recently and not sure how I like it's Image stabilizations. on Olympus side with Olympus 14-150 It was OK to me. And Oly zoom is slimmer

I don't have the 14-140 but about a month ago I asked for opinions between it and the Tamron 14-150 for my E-M10. Got some interesting replies about these two lenses as well as the Olympus 14-150mm. I wound up ordering the Tamron, but returned it after I found I didn't like the results I was getting with it. Personally, I think these super-zooms are trying to cover too large a focal range with one lens.

Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.6 vs Panasonic 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 Power OIS on E-M10

Also there was a recent post from one of our Scandinavian members who says the Panasonic support has confirmed that the OIS does not work properly on the new version of the 14-140 and they have no idea if or when Panasonic will issue a firmware update to correct it.

I use this combination all the time - it's fantastic.

The EM10 does handle better with the accessory grip in my opinion, irrespective of lens choice.

Lindsay,

Very grateful for you response, thank you. I've already got the lens, have got an OM10 on the way, will probably get the grip now as well. Nice to hear the combo works.

Linda, since you mention that you already have the lens, I just wanted to comment about the concerns about the IS in the lens. Since you will be using an EM-10 it really doesn't matter whether or not the lens IS works right or not. Just turn it OFF and use the EM-10 IBIS. It will work just fine. Should be a good combo. From what I've read about it, optically it performs very well. I have the Oly 14x150 and it renders much better images than I expected, and the Panny might be even better.

E-M10 + 14-140 II is my most used combo. The size is just fine, I don't use any extra grips. I turned off OIS as I found IBIS noticeably more effective. The lens is a hidden gem in m43 lineup producing prime-like omages with strong colors, comtrast and sharpness. It is significantly better than Oly 14-150 I used to own.

My wife uses the EM10 + Panasonic 14-140 I combo and absolutely loves it. With IBIS and shutter delay = 0 we have seen no signs of shutter shock with stills. I can't comment on video.

I have no hesitation in recommending this combination as I find it difficult to separate shots taken with the EM10 + 14-140 from those taken with my EM1+12-40.
