Brief assessment:
The SEL1670Z was purchased for being a FoV-equivalent of the supremely useful FF 24-105mm do-all zoom, which I have and enjoy for my Canon FFs. Found that after a 1/3-stop stop-down (f/4.5), it manifests Zeiss-like color and contrast, and is surprisingly sharp for a 4.3x standard zoom, esp. at the longer end. It is basically a near-perfect kit lens (sans negative connotations), with enough width and reach to cover a majority of disparate shooting/framing situations, except for limited DoF and/or low-light (which of course calls for a different class of lenses: fast primes).
It has earned its place as the daylight default on my A6000.
