Canon 330 HS or S110 you make the call

For some reason I'm lusting after a little silver camera to have in my car, just like the good old days.  Now that these two models are coming down in price (refurbs at least) I can pick up one or the other for under $200.  Yeah, the 330 has the 10x optical zoom working for it but the S110 theoretically has superior IQ working for it.

No camera can be all things for all people, but the 330 has a good try.

If you want a good sharp wide angle through to a medium zoom with very low noise and brilliant colors in your pocket then its hard to overlook the 330.

Here is a link to cameralabs flickr test shots from each model:

I had a look at the inside church shot at ISO1600 and full size and I would say that the S110 is a slight bit better, so if you mainly shoot in the dark then you might want the bigger sensor S110, but for general outdoors I can't see much difference.

Re: Canon 330 HS or S110 you make the call

TMC,

I'm using a Canon A720IS for my car camera.  It's surprisingly good, and uses AA cells.  I use Energizer Lithiums, and they last about 550-600 in that camera.  Plus, they have really excellent shelf life, so they don't go flat from self discharge, and I don't have to maintain the battery charge.  I also put a spare pair of lithium cells in the little bag.  It cost me $45 and takes excellent pictures.  Oh, it has an OVF.

I've had the idea of a car camera for a long time; but never acted on it.  Until I spotted the A720IS at KEH.  Once I had it in the car, several opportunities showed up almost immediately; although nothing recently.

S120 now available new for <$300 from very reputable eBay sellers. You may not notice an IQ difference between it and 110, but performance wise reviewers have heralded it as a big step up. Perhaps due to Digic 6.

EDIT: Silver a bit pricier at $325. But black $280 shipped http://m.ebay.com/itm/321294507176?nav=SEARCH
