D800 with KitKat- Issue There is no MTP device connected.

Hi

First I am french so sorry for english ...

I tried to copy files from my D800 to my Samsumg Tab (Kitkat) and the Tab issued the following messahe --> There is no MTP device connected. I used a OTG cable that works with USB key.

Strange because i verified that my nikon support this protocole here

Have you some clues?

Who have connected D800 with KitKat? and how?

regards

Michel from Toulouse, somewhere in France!

Re: D800 with KitKat- Issue There is no MTP device connected.

I have a Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition with Kit Kat. I use OTG to USB on a D7000 which is USB 2.0. I think the D800 has USB 3.0, I wonder if this might be the problem. I am sorry that I do not have access to a D800 to test it.

External SD

I have a Samsung Tab S with "Photo Mate R2" loaded.  I import  RAW files to my Tab S from my Sony A99 (USB OTG).  I import the RAW files to the External SD, 64GB  (/DCIM).  In the Tab file manager I can move the RAW or converted jpg files between the Internal memory and External SD (just can save the edited file to External SD).  I will note if I edit a photo file that is located on my External SDI have to save it to my Internal memory (can not save the edited image to the External SD).

I also Have all my maps for Mapfactor GPS Navigator saved to my External SD.

Re: External SD

Hi

Sorry for the late i was off ...

Nevertheless i tried with an OTB USB 3.0 this type of cable (here ). This time is worst, no message nothing happens on the Tab !

I tried also to change the type of card inside the D800, no effect.

@William, thank you for your reply, but i am looking for a simple solution with cable to copy files from my d800 to my tab.

Thank you, i continue to test ...

Regards

Michel Sauvage: Camera Is Set To Mass Storage - External SD

I am not sure if we are on the same page or not but if we are here is what I do:

Important: For transferring files Camera Is Set To "Mass Storage" not "MTP".

1) Connect OTG cable to Tab S and USB to camera.

2) Turn camera on.

3) File manager on Tab S opens.

4) I Navigate to USBDrive A > DCIM > 100SDCF (my RAW files are here).

5) Click on RAW files in 100SDCF (press on file for a selection box and check for each file).

6) After the files have been selected, click on icon at the top to "Paste Here".

7) I then navigate to SD Card > DCIM > Camera and then click above on “Paste Here”.

8) The files are then Pasted to SD Card > DCIM > Camera.

Hope this helps.

Re: Michel Sauvage: Camera Is Set To Mass Storage - External SD

First thank you very much for your detailed post and you right it is what i aim.

I block in the first step, where i have to define masse storage. I didn't find this parameter into my tab either into D800.

I found some posts on this topic and it seems that is related to the new version of android 4.4.2, what is your version on your tab?

Regards
Michel
