Excellent Lens!
1

Have had this lens for 2 years now (since October 2012) and I love the images it produces. Use it with a Canon 5D Mk III. Great for interior shots. Also use for outdoors shots. I find I get my best results when stopped down to f/11 or so. Given the opportunity, would definitely buy again.

Re: Excellent Lens!

Just ordered the lens today.
My main use will be macrophotography of insects (dragonflies). This lens goes to 0.39 x magnification at 15 mm, which is very good for wide angle lenses.
My 24TSII does 0.33 and my Sigma 14/2.8 does around 0.2. I using FF which I really think this lens need.

Anyone use the lens for macro (or close up photos I guess these images should be called) ? I've tried searching the web for images, but really don't find many.

Re: Excellent Lens!

I wish Canon released EF 15 II. I have the discontinued one, and I love it.

Just left of center out close(r) to the shoreline, I see what appears to be purple fringing or CA but I may not be able to see the trees for the forest. IOW, where is this rainbow flare?

Re: Excellent Lens!

Correction: may not be able to see the forest for the trees. Saw this mistake seconds after posting it. Stupid DPR would not let me edit this post.

Yes, there is often some purple fringing in the corners in high contrast areas around the corners with this lens when you zoom out to where the image circle just barely fills the full frame area. It's one of the quirks of this lens.

IOW, where is this rainbow flare?

OK, start at the second person from the left and go down. Once the rocks start to get dark, there's a tiny pretty diagonal rainbow.
