Looking for a Dp2X

Must be an X and must be DP2 as I have the DP1X. Would prefer a trade.  Contact me via DPR Messaging if interested.

Thanks

Re: Looking for a Dp2X

Hi Rick,

You may also consider the S version.  I picked up a mint DP2S on Get DPI for $230  2 years ago, and really love it.  You may may like it better than the x model, as their's No AFE, which I find to my liking, especially highlight preservation and pp.  All controls are identical to DP1x, so zero learning curve,

I also have the DP1x, and find the DP2S very well color balanced compared to the DP1x. These 2 cameras are the best value in digital electronic photography today  IMHO.  I love the F17 imager, it's magical look and superior monochrome performance.  Add in it's LR supported workflow, and snappy pp in SPP and it make me wonder why Sigma abandoned the F17.

I carry both "digital backs" in the field, two great primes with 400 shot battery capacity, on on top on my cf tripod with quick release, while the other in a belt mounted soft lens case for quick field lens changes, one Cir Pol and you've got a great compact system!

Good Luck!

Thanks: I have the DP2S. The greens for vegetation are not  as good as the X cameras (1/2). Blue skies also can need some color work. Granted I can clean them up, and have, but as someone put it, the DPx series reminds them of the color of the SD15. I know I give up a little on DR but for what I shoot it is worth it.  But for other types of photography, it may not matter.  I have lots of good DPS shots so it is not like the camera hasn't served me well.

I guess it is different strokes for different folks.  I will say that I am enjoying shooting the 1x and the 2s as they are small and processing is fast. Battery life is better than the M series.

Re: Looking for a Dp2X

This is kind of a forgotten camera of the DP series.  Hardly hear anything about it anymore.  I honestly like mine over my DP3M.  Used it a lot last month on a monopod during a trip around Lake Superior on the Canadian and Minnesota side.  Great colors and worked amazingly well in some low light situations.  Probably the sharpest lens from the center to the edge that I own and I have a lot of really excellent K mount primes that Pentax (my primary system) has made in the last 30 years. Images require little if any PP.  Just cannot say the same about the DP3M but I have got to log more time with the camera to be fair and honest.

Best of luck finding a good DP2X.

Re: Looking for a Dp2X

I ordered a Dp2s yesterday ($240 on Amazon, including the close-up lens attachment). I really want to try a Dp3 Merrill, but I figure the Dp2s will be a less expensive way to see if I can handle all the Sigma quirks. It will join my Olympus epl-1 and Pentax K-01 in my collection of underdog cameras bought for a song and a whistle. ^_^

The K-01 is an excellent much maligned camera.  If you do landscapes and macro and use a tripod or monopod the K-01 delivers excellent quality images and is capable of really good high ISO images too.  I have two (2) K-01s and they log more time taking images than my K-5.

Rick, you're right, the X gives you good colours overall, even OOC jpg !

I've got mine practically new, with 40 shots only

Re: Looking for a Dp2X

Nice detail and color/tones.  The one disappointment with the cameras (DP)  is the flash size.  What a shame they didn't build in a stronger flash.

sure not a main, but as a fill-in flash its just right strenght.

the only problem in a dark is to get the autofocus to lock on a main subject

DP1x with build-in fash as fill-in

I'm used to shooting with a softboxed speedlite anyway. I've yet to meet the on-camera flash that I've found useful for anything more than activating my speed light.

Which model needs more time? DP3M or DP1s? Maybe this will change with the update.

btw: ultra-speedy ddr4-mainboards are on the way/still available. next year when 16gb-memory is available up to 128 ram is possible, thunderbolt and ramdisk integrated(option). memory change from 8 to 16 would cost a lot and they(8gb) are still 150% priciers than ddr3. check msi-site or asrock or gigabyte.
