SX20 IS screen question

Newbie here.

Installed CHDK yesterday and played around.

Now, both chdk and canon settings show on the screen.

The screen also blinks.

Can the camera be set to show either chdk or canon instead of both? Very confusing.

Also, what did I do to cause the blinking?

Thanks,

Don

Re: SX20 IS screen question

Hi Don,

Welcome to dpreview. I also run chdk on a couple of powershots and have had no overt issues with chdk.

I am not totally sure what you mean by your screen "blinking" on and off. Does the entire screen go off or just the menu items blink on and off? What mode are you in when the screen is doing this? Playback or camera mode? I don't have chdk on my powershot 20, but I do have it on my wife's powershot 30 and they (20/30) are quite similiar to one another.

I would suggest getting in touch with waterwingz here on this forum. He is the resident guru on all things chdk. You can do a search for him on this forum.

Regards, Jim

Re: SX20 IS screen question

Thank you for replying.

I think I figured it out. The screen does not turn off and on, only the setting icons. The settings only blink when 'alt' is on and sitting on my desk.  Point the camera out at a distance and the blinking stops. It seems the 'Auto' and 'Micro' settings are at work causing the problem. Don't know for sure.

Thanks again,

Don
