NX1100 + 30mm and Voightlander 40mm OVF

I had a NX1100 in a bag for a while but finally I decided to get the 30mm and the little Voightlander 40mm OVF to play around.

Setting the camera in B&W and JPEG and just click...

Sony a77 / DT 30mm f2.8 Macro / DT 16-50mm f2.8 / 70-200mm f2.8G 1.4X TC / 100mm f2.8 Macro / 500mm f8 Reflex

I am no longer surprised at anything that this camera does. Or maybe I'm still surprised every time I see yet another example

Re: NX1100 + 30mm and Voightlander 40mm OVF

I have the NX1000 and have used a 20mm OVF from Olympus. It cost me $65 used.

What does an optical viewfinder do other than frame your shot for a fixed focal length? I.e. what is the purpose of using one with an NX camera?

Exactly what you said. Sometimes in bright sunlight, it's hard for me to see anything on the screen.

This can give me another choice instead of just using one of my cameras that have built-in EVF's.

Hrm, so but the view is static in size / magnification, so you can only effectively frame for one focal length, right?

The OVF frame for 40mm but it fits perfectly with the 30mm pancake (45mm equiv).
That's the lens attached to my NX1100 for now.
I read the 20mm pancake also can be used with this OVF but I am not sure about that.
I tried one the Voightlander 21/25 with the 16 and 20mm pancakes and it fits very well.

Just in case anyone is interested:

My Olympus OVF-1 will frame up perfectly on my NX1000 with an NX 20mm lens. (30mm equiv.)

The main issue I see with using such a viewfinder is lack of proper focus confirmation and exposure meter. I have been using a custom-cut good quality matte screen protector, which makes it possible to see the screen even in bright sunlight--not perfectly but well enough.

Focus confirmation can also be heard with an audible beep.

Yes, that's what I do.

I use central point in its second smallest size. The focus point is well centered in the OVF and if you are closer than 10 feet the area moves down to correct the parallelism.

I would really like Samsung could integrate a OVF that comunicate with the camera and offers focus confirmations and exposure, aperture and speed, something simple but useful in sunny days.

Actually, the built-in OVF in the Fuji X20 does exactly that.

Right, you can have it auto-focus on *something*, but you won't be completely sure on what. It can pick something in the foreground, in front of what you want to focus on, etc. Most accurate focus is the one you can see. Certainly for snapping landscape views, it's probably fine, but for street photos where objects range in distance widely, for example, it may be inaccurate without looking.

I use spot focus, and pre-focus the subject at the center position, then pan to the position where I want to be, then shoot. Nothing to it.
