Based on your printing experience, what would you think the (a) optimum and (b) maximum printing size would be, out from the Fujifilm-16MP APSC sensor, operating at the ISO 400-800 area?

Most thankful for your help.

a) try 2-3 sizes out and see by yourself: Printing service or inkjet printer?

b) Based on my experience, normal viewing distance is a huge equalizer. Sticking your nose on a 24x36 print is like staring at 100% monitor view in the outer edges to discover unsharpness.

c) I had an Epson A2 printer (3800) and A2 seems no problem for most cameras with 12MO or more.

Just printed the image below (ISO 6400, Shutter speed 1/12 sec at 12x16, and it looks great.

I printed this image (ISO 400) at 16x21 and the detail is amazing.

I print mostly to 16x12 inch with highly satisfactory results having printed about 40 images so far with it, but would not be afraid to go to 24x16 ins maximum. Remember a lot is about the viewing distance, but on the basis I had no problem with my Nikon D700 12Mp camera at 16x12 the Fuji will eat that.

I print up to 16x30 inches on my 3880, which is actually a 20x30 inch cropped. I interpolate to 360dpi and use R-L deconvolution for RAW pre-sharpening and USM for output sharpening (avoiding 2 passes of USM). The results are nice if the image is nice going in. :) Several gallery directors and a juried show have accepted the quality of the prints with no questions.

Easily A3+ - (13" x 19") - did A3+ ages back with a 6mp Canon EOS 10D and sigma 20mm f1.8 - camera on tripod etc and printed perfectly - you wouldn't know it was 6mp!

So, I have printed this large at various ISO settings without an issue - ultimately technique and exposure will be a bigger problem - but I would just go for it
