RIF's (raptors in flight)
5

Went to the Eifelpark again today and shot the raptors, wolves and bears plus a few others. I am still trying to figure out what focusing mode works the best for me at the park for the raptors. The distance is very often changing VERY rapidly. Anyway, here are a few I got with my a77M2 and Sony 70-400G2.

Ever see am Eagle swimming??

Wow!  Awesome captures.  I'll trade you a dozen sparrows in my backyard for anyone of these.  I'll even throw in a chaser or two.

Nice going.

Those are gr8 clicks. I think you have nailed the focus well. Head out to shoot some wild ones before winter sets in.

If they trade for the chaser I would luv to see the deal happen. . !

Seems you have good sparrow counts in Canada, we in India have "Save the sparrow" project.

On my morning walk I have not come across more than 10 count of sparrows.

Re: RIF's (raptors in flight)

Thank you very much, CC! I always have fun at the Eifelpark. The animals are all very well cared for and they have a big area (185 acres). I also got some good shots of the bears and wolves which I'll post later.

Sorry I didn't have a Chaser for you! Did you see the Chaser I posted for you on my Just a Butterlfy thread?

Great shots!

I particularly love the owl.

This one is fit to be on an ancient Greek coin symboling the goddess Athena...

Cheers,

Eric

Thank you, Eric! Next time I am with that owl I'll make sure it gets an extra treat. Owls are also one of my favorites.

Thanks for the information.  I certainly didn't know that.  We have sparrows all over the place - no lack of them here.

Re: **** A couple more shots ....

awesome shots!! (apart from the guy kissing the owl, that disgusted me, I don't like owls).

Could you post your camera settings (AF settings)? I just wonder how everyone else is using A77m2.

Re: **** A couple more shots ....

Thanks very much for looking and the comments! That owl is the falconer's favorite raptor and it shows.

I am still trying different modes but for this show the center focus with lock on seemed to work the best. For R/C airplanes the lock on af, flexible spot worked well. I'm still playing around and have yet to find the "magical setting".
