Konica Minolta 7D LCD Diplay- where to get this part

Hi
I've got a konica minolta 7d and this year vacation was a total fail for me. After a littel car accident my LCD got broke. I'm seachring for the LCD but did not get to much information where i can get it.
I did find this info on german minolta forum:
2181090 "LCD MONITOR" (U3040516U) USD 115,02
but sony website says it's no longer available ;/
Search on ebay did not go good as well. Any ideas where i can get it? or is there someone who want to sell an LCD?

Try the Dyxum Boneyard thread . . .

If you can get a GGS/FOTGA/JYC glass LCD screen protector, you can remove the broken LCD and replace it with one of those. Heat the LCD screen with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive around the edge and gently remove the top LCD screen from the body and then thoroughly clean the ridge where the LCD screen sits (there's a small lip so it needs to be totally clear of any residue). Remove the adhesive film from the JYC/FOTGA/GGS screen and accurately place it into the camera. Job done!

Screens can be bought very cheaply on evilBay. I can't see one specifically for the 7D, but there are plenty listed for 2.5" screens, so worth asking the vendor if they know if it will be compatible, though the standard size for these is 56.5mm horizontal x 45mm vertical, so if the 7D LCD screen is that size, then you'll be fine. See items: 321159750570 and 320937927586 as examples.

I very much doubt you'll find an OEM glass LCD screen, so these will be every bit as good, though do check the dimensions (in mm) first.

I'm assuming it's the screen cover and not the actual LCD itself. That said, there is a forum for dead 5D/7D DSLR's on Dyxum, so it may be worth asking there if anyone who has a dead 7D would be prepared to remove it and sell it to you (no harm in asking). See the Boneyard thread.

Another place to try is KEH.com

I've been able to find many parts for Minolta cameras there.

Additional info, questions, advice and a suggestion

Ahoy!

Further to my previous reply, unless you can source the part free or extremely cheaply, it'll be financially unviable to do a repair (buying new parts) and I would advise you look for a Sony A700 which is about the same in terms of build, weight and size to the Dynax/Maxxum 7D though is arguably better and these can be bought pretty cheaply in todays used market.

I don't have the answer to this, but is the Minolta LCD removable from the rear and connects via a small connector, or do you have to dismantle the body and access it from the rear of the body housing internally?

You can get a lot of info, software and documentation directly from the KM website here.  FWIW, I also have the DiMAGE Master software with the update and serial number with user guides posted online via DPR here if you need it.

Hi Mark

First thing. Thanks for the reply. Didn't have much time lately.

Sad to say the screen protector is ok it's the LCD. I did took the LCD out because I had hope it's only a connection problem... i'm looking actually on the boneyard.

I still have hope for my friend ;/

All of the parts were transferred to Sony when they took over KM

photograpic end.  So if Sony handles this the way they do current models, you are SOL!

I am so ashamed. I've fallen victim to a three year old thread.

Doesn't matter - what matters is you tried to help.
