Resetting Canon Powershot SX30 is

I used to be able to take wonderful close ups of the moon with amazing clarity and now when I try in various modes to take them it will focus and then go out of focus when it comes time to take the shot. I don't know if I need to reset the camera if that is possible or if something was set incorrectly since the last time I use the camera. I am not the only family member who uses the camera.

Thanks

You may have better luck at minimising focus hunting when the moon is in a phase other than a full moon. After all, the moon’s surface is pretty bland and is reflecting the full intensity of the sun at its current phase. That amounts to quite a harsh bit of light reflecting off the moon’s surface - you may need quite a high shutter speed. Have you tried manual focus set to near infinity? That’ll stop all that focus hunting nonsense.
