Pretty happy with the M.Zuiko 75mm 1.8

I only have a few lenses, an all-around zoom + a macro and fisheye lens.  Was looking for something for taking photos at the park or portrait pics.  This seems to be quite a fun lens to play with, as it has a wide range of situations it appears to be comfortable in.  I don't think I have much to say that the other reviews have not said already, so a picture!

Re: Pretty happy with the M.Zuiko 75mm 1.8

Thank you for your review, it does seem to be a very good lens indeed.

While I don't pretend to be anything special in portraits, I think you will forgive me a short criticism to your image. First, I think that the strong out-of-focus whitish thing on the right is quite ugly. The out-of-focus letters (?) in the foreground are, to me, also objectionable, from the point of view of the overall image. I think that most people dislike OoF large objects in the foreground, from as aesthetic point of view. So, I took the liberty of suggesting (in the version that follows) a tighter crop, that I think improves quite a bit the image.

Second, I thing that the sitter and immediate surroundings are too much in the dark. So, I also lifted the shadows a bit, it shows the hair color and the model's face.

Please don't think that I am trying to teach you anything, , it is just a suggestion, that might even be wrong!

No problem.  I picked the photo for the demonstration of depth-of-field, having identifiable objects both before and after the focus.
