Fuji X-A1 embedded sensor "dust" too...

I bought a couple of Fuji X-A1's earlier in the year, taking advantage of the lens offers at the time.

Anyway, both have embedded dust "in" the sensor. One was already replaced by the retailer for another one (again with permanent dust). the other has been back to Fuji 3 times - first time for sensor clean (came back filthy, with the same perma-dots visible), and since then two sensor "replacements" - each with new dust permanently visible, unable to be cleaned. very often visible at apertures as small as f/8. This last time the camera came back it makes some disturbing chirping noises out of the loudspeaker on shutdown, so it is going back _again_.

I now think that Fuji simply can't fix this, or that they've already deemed it to be acceptable. To recap - in total I have now seen _5_ camera sensors with this issue. Not a single one without it. I am beginning to wonder if these are actually impurities in the filter on top of the sensor.

I am pretty peeved over this - I know the X-A1 isn't exactly an expensive camera, but I can't understand why I keep getting sent back cameras with the same (albeit in different places on the frame) issue. I've never seen anything like this on other interchangeable lens cameras I have owned.

Here is an example of the kind of thing I'm talking about.

I believe Lumix5 may think you're a troll.

Anyway, I'm not 100% sure those are dust spots because they look a little too well defined for dust. There is a spot, at the top right, which isn't circled that looks like dust.

I'm a little surprised by your post because this is the first I've read about a problem like this. I don't own an X-A1 (have an X-E1) but I think I'd call Fuji service and talk to them along with emailing them a picture showing the problem (you may have already done this).

Seems like Fuji would either fix the sensor or would explain why they can't repair the camera.

I've owned several digital cameras, over the years, and been lucky because I've only had one serious problem with any camera and it was repaired without a hassle (that was on an older Sony camera).

Hope you eventually get this issue resolved. Good luck.

It is quite obvious problem with fuji.
I have similar issue with my xpro1

There is s dust between sensor and glass filter.
But that not bother me as I'm not using aperture over 5.6. But for landscape photographers it can be a problem.

I'm a troll right now?

Re: Fuji X-A1 embedded sensor "dust" too...

I've just gone through an entire box of swabs trying to clean the sensors on my X-E1 and X-E2.  I've cleaned other camera sensors before successfully, so I do know how to do it.  Didn't think about the dust being UNDER the glass.  That would explain it.  Discovered them doing some pinhole photography with a pinholed body cap, where they really showed up.  Annoying!

Re: Fuji X-A1 embedded sensor "dust" too...

I just saw some replies to this old topic of mine!

I think the reason they are so defined vs regular dust is because they are that much closer to the sensor (i.e. they are on the sensor as opposed to the AA filter).

Anyhow, I've exited Fuji for now, back to Sony from whence I came.

I eventually got a body out of Fuji which only had a couple of dots, and then I stopped looking for them.  It is quite clear from the number of posts I see on XE-2 / XT-1 that this was at least a problem for a while on Fuji sensor assemblies.

Some of the cleaning jobs Fuji UK did on the sensors to start with were horrific - came back smeary and dirtier than it went to them.

I would wonder if this issue has been fixed by now, but life is too short and I've moved on.
