Re: Adam:

How can I identify the external (cosmetic) differences between the various 14-42 lenses? Do you have pix that show the differences/

I`ve not got size pics to hand but the new one can easily be identified by its shiny-ness and that it has HD on it .. the old one is even bigger than the 14-45 . obviously the PZ is a pancake and has HD on it  ........

there are two cosmetic versions of the cheapo old 14-42 , one is all black, one has a gunmetal coloured base like the 14-45 has but both are large and neither have HD on ..

the new one is about the size of the collapsible Oly lens its that small

Or about the size of various primes (45/1.8, 12/2, just slightly longer than a 15/1.7) and other small zooms (just slightly smaller than the 9-18)... I think it's perfectly at home on a GM, otherwise nothing but a pancake would be at home on them, 'course a pancake like the 12-32 is even more portable, at a cost.

Re: On the OMD ---> Samples

Would a person interested in macro actually use it though, or would they just up and buy a dedicated macro prime? Some even opt to use extension tubes on longer lenses than to use the 12-50...

given how poor the 14-42s all are for even medium closeups and the high price of a dedicated prime for less than really serious use then I`d say a definite YES
