Moose!

I don't get to shoot wildlife nearly as much as I'd like, but found my 5d3 plus 70-200 2.8 more than up to the task for these delightful moose in Maine.

Re: Moose!

Nice capture, perhaps you could have shot at a slower shutter speed to bring the iso down lower?

Re: Moose!

Thanks.  I was being overly cautious with the shutter speed.  The cam was hand-held with the zoom maxed, and I knew that I'd be cropping heavily to get the final image.  The critters weren't very close to me.

Re: Moose!

It appeared to be fairly bright, Although you were over cautious you would be ok with 1/800th with the critter coming towards you. I shoot football and dance solos around 1/600th to 1/800th with good results. I don't get any opportunity to shoot wildlife. Someday if I can get out of the city I might be able to!

Re: Moose!

I appreciate your input.  I hope to get back to where I took these and with any luck, will see the moose again.  I'll do some experimenting with slower shutter speeds.

Re: Moose!

Interesting observation, regarding the viewer.  I ended up re-editing this pic and the rest I got on that outing...the highlights seem excessive and overall it was too crisp.  I'm having fun learning!

Re: Moose!

I have a chance to take photos of Alaska moose that look different when I visited there in 2012. It's a rainy and foggy day. The light was not bright then.
