Nikon Df - Astrophotography - milky way
5

Hi all. Just got a new Nikon Df (upgrade from Nikon D7000) and wanted to test it for astrophotography. This is my first test of the milky way https://www.flickr.com/photos/muitosabao/14392332147/in/photostream/ from two nights ago, in germany.

It was a very clear night. On this shot used a sigma 70mm 2.8, ISO 6400, 20sec. Stacked around 20shots in Mean mode in photoshop.

The traking was done using Vixen Polarie, so the tracking is not 100% perfect, and this shows a bit in a bit of dragging in the stars after adding the 20 shots together. In the individual frames the stars look better. Will try to align the shots in next experiment.

But overall, amazing impression with the Nikon Df. A beast in low light!

Cheers

Nikon Df

Here's a second version http://1drv.ms/1j5wEg9 and in full resolution. I processed this one in Deepsky Stacker, so the frames were aligned and the imperfections in the tracking of the polarie are gone.

Again, the 20 frames were combined in average mode.
