Linux and NX1100 raw files....what works?

I just got an nx1100 and want to shoot raw.  I've tried darktable, rawtherapee and rawstudio but none will work for me.

Darktable loads the files, but the colors look like color negatives.

Rawtherapee only opened JPG files.

Rawstudio displayed the negative-like colors...same as darktable.

I've tried using the programs in both Linux mint 13 and 15 with the same results.

Has anyone had success with Linux and NX1100 raw files?

I did a search of the forum using - linux nx1100 and raw as search words and got no results.

Any help will be appreciated.

Haven't tried with the NX1100, however I am familiar with NX raw in both rawthereapee and darktable.  May I suggest the first thing to check is are you running latest stable versions?  For example, just type:

"rawtherapee --version"

I'd suggest installing rawthereapee 4.0.12.0 as a minimum.  Or better still 4.1 stable version.

Regarding darktable, the DT release notes indicate you'll need 1.4.2 just for experimental NX1100 support (which doesn't sound all that promising).

One more thought, have you tried posting on rawtherapee forum?

Hmm, I'm not sure of the state of the Mint repos, but like Hootsmon said, try using newer versions if there are any. I believe the Darktable Ubuntu Stable PPA should work well for you, you can find it and installation instructions here: https://launchpad.net/~pmjdebruijn/+archive/darktable-release as is indicated on darktable's install page here: http://www.darktable.org/install/

Despite what the release notes said I'm quite confident that it will work with NX1100 raws just fine. Raw Therapee I still don't have working properly with NX300 raws... though I'm not using the latest version yet the repo version in Ubuntu wasn't very old 4.0.11.0... I've been too busy to try the latest, though it's still on my to do list. Could be some other issue on my end rather than with Raw Therapee, but in any case it isn't working for me yet.

Actually, while writing this now I hopped on IRC and confirmed with the devs that NX1100 is indeed working in Darktable 1.4.2 ^_^.

I finally installed Ubuntu 12.04.2 and installed Rawtherapee 4.0.12.0 and so far have just tried a couple of raw files. The colors appear as they should (rather than the negative colors I got before) and it seems to work fine so far (I'm new at raw processing and still learning), so I'm happy with that.

I'll try installing Darktable again. I tried raw studio with ubuntu, but still get wrong colors. I was almost ready to buy another camera to avoid having to use windows programs to process raw files.

Thanks for the input.

^_^ Extra motivation for me to try that release!  Still probably won't happen for a while though.

Re: Linux and NX1100 raw files....what works?

RawTherapee can now handle X-Trans raw files, thanks to a patch committed today. I don't know if it'll works fine for all camera model, but it does for the models we've been able to get sample files.

This feature is brand new, right out of the oven, so you'll have to wait for the availability of new bleeding edge builds on the download page, unless you can compile RT yourself.

You'll also be able to use our new color toning tool, out of the oven too. A stable 4.2 build may be released shortly...

As a side note, Linux Mint 13 is based on Ubuntu 12.04, thus you could have simply added Ubuntu PPAs to Mint without reinstalling the OS - it's worth to check at http://www.linuxmint.com/oldreleases.php prior to taking OS reinstall route.
