Re: Quick review of NX3000 (very early in ownership)

Marc, could you kindly comment on the nx3000/PZ16-50 vs. the Alpha3k/PZ1650 (or any other 20M Alpha)?

I favor the E-mount, but i want good JPEG engine in a small travel package with 16-50, and the nx3000 seem to score higher on both the JPEG and the 16-50PZ fronts. Thanks, mitch-

Hello mitch,

i'm sorry - i don't own the NX3000 yet, and/or the 16-50 PZ Lens, i do own the NX1000 with the usual 20-50 II NX lens. The Samsung NX Series does have a advantage compared to Sony E-Mount: the cameras getting way cheaper after a relative short time period. For E-Mount, you've got Focus Peaking feature, and virtually could adapt every lens from the 50's to 90's to it with a cheap adapter.

The NX3000 with 16-50PZ could have been bought here for as little as 249 EUR, but unfortunately, some time ago...now it's back to 285 EUR. I'd shoot only RAW, but i'd say the JPG engine from the NX3000 is good enough for travelshots, as long as you don't use too high iso settings.
