E-M10 & m.zuiko 75-300mm II vs Spitfire
5

This was my first attempt at photographing a fast moving target with this camera and lens. The spitfire was supposed to fly over my village at 3pm, but actually came at 2:30pm so this was very much a "grab camera, run outside" moment. I enabled burst mode and set a 9 point autofocus, but I was so rushed I didn't even realize I was in Aperture mode, not Shutter mode.

I managed to fire off about 40 shots, mostly throwaways, and I'd say these are the best two:

I'd say the image quality is "decent". A little soft, but it is a very cloudy, hazy day here.

I was particularly pleased with how (relatively) easy it was to keep the spitfire in the frame using the EVF. At 300mm I was hunting around a lot less than I expected to be.

Anyway, as an impromptu first attempt at a fast moving target, I'm pretty happy with the results.

I would be happy with that result.

I love my 75 - 300 too. Great fun.

Re: I would be happy with that result.

It is an amazing lens for the price, I personally can't hand hold it at full extension and I discovered that the lens body extends below the EM10 so I had to find a spacer to get it to work on my tripod!

It really is always something..

They are nice shots. We had a flyover for forces day here in Plymouth on Saturday but the weather severely curtailed it so did not to get to see a Spitfire. I also forgot to turn the electronic shutter off on my G6 and so ended up with some bendy propellers until I realised. The planes flew very low over Plymouth sound though and so I got to get quite a few nice captures even with the Panasonic kit zoom (45-150).
