Straight out of the box through double glazed windows.

Red dot sight is a breeze.

Ah that's great someone else has brought one. A nice first capture. Was that Jay swinging in the Breeze.  What do think of the camera.

Re: SP100EE

Any birds in flight to really test out that red dot system??

I am getting very excited about this camera, I love the idea of getting small, but having great image quality. And I really want at least 35 mm equivalent of 24-600, but 24-1200 would even be better.

Is this the camera of my dreams?

Re: SP100EE

Kev,

The Jay hops onto our peanut bird feeder, has become a regular visitor now. I am pleased with the camera as it is the best so far for birding. I've tried Digiscoping and full DSLR with long lens but the captures I have had with this in such a short time is great. I've had to put it back in it's box for now as it is my birthday present (Saturday) I managed to convince her to let me try it out in case it was broke and had to go back "lol'

Re: SP100EE

Does anyone know what this camera is like compared to the Panasonic FZ200 or Sony HX400V I want to get a superzoom for airshows and wildlife and was wondering if this camera is just as fast in terms of autofocus and shot to shot time etc

Photo's look fantastic

I have the FZ200 and the SP-100 too. I prefer the OLY for birding with the extra reach, you can get in real close. The shot to shot time is instant and it focusses quick too. I often take ten shots instantly as quick as I can press the shutter and keep the best shot. Here's some I took today around the garden SOOC.

I think the SP-100 will do very well at an air show especially using the red dot sight. This is something me and my wife are interested in doing, as she uses the FZ200 so that would be an interesting comparison when we get around to it.

Re: SP100EE

Thanks for the reply and the images Kevin they look amazing I think I am going to go with the Olympus then. I am going to a airshow in a few weeks time so I will see what happens and if I get any decent shots I will reply back.

I compared to some other super zooms, and its focus ability was better than most - it would be good for planes and moving objects. Its image quality is good in good light. However for outright image quality on still objects at full zoom its hard to go past Nikon P600 or Canon sx50.

Cheers

Steve.

I agree with Kevin, it would be great for an airshow.

Re: SP100EE

Thanks and sorry. I'll make sure in future, although I don't think I'll be quite as lucky. LOL

The SX50 may still be the prime competition for wildlife photography despite its age (announced Sept. 2012) based on samples I've viewed. I like its combination of small size, sharp lens, proven OIS and articulated LCD. A nice selection here:

Of course, images are only as good as the photographer's skills, and Tony is clearly exceptional; I can only dream .

I am curious about the SP100 given its spotting scope which should result in more keepers, so please continue providing sample images. Must admit I'm a little hesitant about the length of its  lens (5.25" vs. SX50's 4.17" in closed position), but otherwise the camera's in the same ballpark as the SX50 and P600.  The over-sized FZ70 isn't in the running for me.
