nx 300 starter lens

hi

i am about to pick a nx300 mirrorless camera. i am confused with which lens to start with.

either to choose a kit lens or invest in a single focal length lens like 45mm 1.8

if kit lens whether 16-50 pz ois or 18-55 ois, which one is better,

i love the bokeh effect and so i love to shoot portraits , my dog, kids , family pictures and some travel photos.

will the 45mm lens would be enough as a general purpose carry around lens, am not much into zooming and taking pictures though.

budget is a on tight so i just choose these three lenses, any other lenses from other systems with in the budget would be appreciated.

is the 45mm 2d/3d lens worth to be considered for its 3d abilities

thank you

The 18-55 is a good lens, otherwise go for the 30 f2. A 45 is a bit long for a first lens, being the equivalent of a 67.5mm on 35. 3D is meaningless for still photography.

All of the samsung kit lenses are pretty good, so it's not like there are any to avoid. The question will be how much video do you think you'll be shooting with it, especially indoors, if that's going to be a regular thing then get the 18-55, if not, the 20-50mm most cameras come with has never let me down.

Whichever kit lens you get, plus the telephoto zoom, and the 45 make a fine kit for most situations.

I love the regular 45mm prime, it seldom leaves my camera. That lens completely transformed my experience with my nx1100. Plus it can be had for a bit less than the 3d version. It's a bit closer to a proper portrait length than the 30mm and its 1.8 aperture gives a pleasant background blur.

The 50-200mm can sometimes be purchased refurbished on newegg and tiger direct or used on amazon for as little as $150(which is what I did) but the normal $250 price new isn't bad. Some people have had problems with defects in some of the early versions, they are on OIS3 now, but I haven't heard any complaints lately.

I own the 30mm too. Buying the 50-200 and 45 used/refurbed let me get it at the same time, and its very portable, good for street shooting, letting the camera feel like the compact in CSC isn't a misnomer, and focuses quickly. But I would get an extra battery and invest in a really good SD card before a fourth lens.

I've got the 16-50mm powerzoom... and I love it! It will be better to handle on the compact NX300 than the standard 18-55 kit. 16mm is better than 18mm, too. The quality seems to be equal good.

My sugestion: 16-50mm PZ and 30mm pancake.

Hi. Yes, the 30 will give the blur effect you want, but less than the 45, which is longer and faster. But for a one lens kit, I wouldn't go with the 45, because it's too long for many kinds of photos, like group of people and landscape. The 30 is far more versatile. You could perhaps get the camera with the 18-55mm and buy the 45 later for those portraits with the backgrounds very blurred, or even the 85mm which is the king in that area.

Re: nx 300 starter lens

exactly!

45 mm is better for portraits. This lens together with a standard zoom (either 18-55 or 16-50) will probably fit you needs, but if that's too expensive -- then you should better take the 30mm.
