Start of a beautiful friendship- OMD and me...
3

To paraphrase Humphrey Bogart in the film Casablanca, "OMD I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship"

The big brown truck delivered my  E-M1 and 12-40mm f2.8 this afternoon. While scanning the highlights of the manual (on line) the battery was charging.

Convincing myself of the utility of the m4/3 format with me recently acquired EPM2 the only way to realize the potential picture quality was to update the user experience. To that end the E-M1 was the ticket for me.

Just a couple of quickly shot pix in the backyard. Nothing fancy or meaningful for me just a test all was working. These were out of the camera .jpg's

Now its time to spend some meaningful time with the manual and get this cam adjusted to my preferences.

thanks for bearing with my enthusiasm for a new toy

cheers and beers,

Joe

My wife is not so patiently awaiting the arrival of her new OM 10 and 12-40 f/2.8.

Feeling the same as my Father's Day present arrived a couple of days ago (EM10) and I have been tinkering with it for the last two days.  Upgrade from my E-PL2, which served me well for nearly three years.  The improvements in dynamic range and noise reduction have me very happy right now.

The OM-D E-M1 + 12-40 is the perfect combo

I have my E-M1 and quite a few lenses with it for a while but 80-90% of my pictures were taken with this combo.

I owned most of the Canon and Nikon Pro and Semi-Pro cameras and pro lenses but this E-M1 and the 12-40 lens beats any camera and lens combo I ever had. The camera is very solidly built and this lens is the sharpest "standard" zoom I have ever had. It is razor sharp wide open at every focal lengths even wide open at f/2.8 from edge to edge.

Moving objects, wild life, BIF are a different story however where the camera has a very poor C-AF results, so for these subjects I use my Nikon D300s or V3. Hopefully the next generation O-M1 MkII will solve this problem.

We are in the process of having our kitchen repaired from a major water leak from my dishwasher. It's no fun washing dishes in the tub.

Anyway, I don't know what's on the agenda for today after church. We might have some "retail therapy." Since is going to be about 110 here in Tucson today, whatever we do better be in air conditioning.

You mentioned at Mark II version. Is that on the horizon, wishful thinking or just rumor. This inquiring mind wants to know.

I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun taking photos with it.  I know I still really enjoy my E-M5 after more than 2 years.  No regrets.
