SP-100 Close ups (Mainly flowers, just one bird)

The SP-100 I thought did pretty good for close up shooting. Didn't bother with macro mode, just zoomed in to frame. May be of interest if you like shooting flowers.

Hi Kevin,

looks like the lens can do the job for bird shots, great color and lots of detail.

Adjusting the exposure a little bit with snapseed desktop brings out the detail even more.

Re: SP-100 Close ups (Mainly flowers, just one bird)

These look fine. They appear similar in IQ to my SP-820 so happy to see this. I handled the SP-100 in a camera store and was impressed with the build quality, but wish it would allow for in camera adjustments for saturation, sharpness, etc.

Would love to see a few images shot at full length if you get the chance. Appears that Oly did well with this camera. A serious contender to the SX50, P600, and Sony HX300/400 since the Oly has a better EVF and possibly better IS. Thanks for posting.

Compare with the SP820 with this flower sooc. Both Olys show nice sharpness at full size.

Image-Resource Shows SP-100 With Good IQ

Was just viewing images on Image Resource comparing the SP-100 to Fuji X-S1, S1, Canon SX50, and Nikon P600 and the Oly looks to be right at or near the top for clean detailed images. The weakest to my eyes was the Fuji X-S1.

Thanks, Yes that looks better.

I do try to post sooc so people can see what the camera can do. It is also interesting to see how others view and enhance pictures.

Cheers Kev

Really nice Kevin, the colors are top rate and close ups look to be a strong point.

Nice image.

Yes I have always felt the camera is lacking quite a few in camera adjustments. But it does a pretty good job overall and is quite good fun to use.

Here's a couple of 1200mm shots. The duck at about 15-20 ft and the lamb not sure but a lot further.

Re: Image-Resource Shows SP-100 With Good IQ

The X-S1 did not fair well on image-Resource, It looks like they used one of the X-S1s that had the left side soft. Scroll over to the right side of images and it is sharper, I compared images on another site and the Fuji did really good.

Hi Kevin,

I don't do extensive post processing , The most time I spend on an image is about 2 minutes, correcting exposure etc that is very hard to see in an EVF or LCD. The bird image maybe 30 seconds.

You might want to have a go at this , to help with images that have not turned out as expected

The version he is using is older the newer one even more refined. And it's FREE!

Interesting as I use the SP100 along with my XS1 (not at the same time) and the XS1 doesn't always come out on top.

My thought was to use the SP100 just for birding and the XS1 for everything else and in nearly every way the Fuji seems to be better than the oly. But I'm finding myself wanting to take the oly out more often that the Fuji.

Thanks Aaron I liked what you did with my image. I'm not really a fan of PP other than basic crop exposure and sharpen so  I will look into that. I have been using the free gimp.

Hi KJ thanks

Yes I agree. However It does sometimes turn out some pleasing wide angle shots too.

Lovely shots, the colors are nice and vibrant too. It looks in the second photo a bit of angular distortion (not sure what term it is).

Cheers
